McCarthy's Westport

Westport itself is a lovely place to visit. There is a good choice of restaurants and shops, there is a good atmosphere, with proximity to many scenic landscapes.

We booked this accommodation for four nights but decided to leave after the first night because the condition of the property did not meet our expectations based on the listing. Several parts of the apartment appeared very worn and poorly maintained. For example, the bedside table had visible dents that seemed to be covered with correction fluid, door frames and hinges were damaged and heavily painted over, and some fixtures showed rust and corrosion. In the bathroom there was mould and dirt around the shower frame and sealant, and the ventilation fan was full of dust. Due to these maintenance and cleanliness issues we did not feel comfortable staying for the remaining three nights and left early. Unfortunately the host declined a refund for the unused nights and Booking.com was not able to assist further. Westport itself is a lovely place to visit. However, we hope the property owner will address the maintenance issues for future guests and consider a fair solution regarding the unused nights.

Sink was blocked in our room, reported it on our arrival, and was told there would be somebody going up to fix it...returned back that night to our room to find it not fixed. Next day we were in the bar, again we were told it would be fixed....again it remained blocked. So we spent our stay with a blocked sink and having to use the shower to wash our hands etc. Basic hygiene needs not met. Wouldnt stay again. Furniture and room needs a make over. Damp.smell in bathroom....which was probably from the sink.

Perfect location, cheaper than other local hotels.

Parking can be tricky.

Due to our concert having issues we arrived later than planned. A friendly man waited for us to give us the keys. 10/10 for staff. But also the room was spacious and clean. Super comfy bed and great shower. Definitely recommend!
