Shametu River Lodge

Stunning location great lodge with beautiful villas. Food was exceptional dinner lunch and breakfast !

No Wifi in the Villas….. as the property was almost empty it was disappointing that the rates for river cruise and game drives were so high!

The location is convenient, the facilities, the boat cruise, the breakfast excellent. The manager is a sweet heart, she tries her best, Frank the captain for boat cruise is good, there was one old tate who was always concerned whenever you pass by him, he smiles, asks you if you need anything and if you are comfortable, he is a gentle humble soul, God bless him. One waiter that served us on the Xmas eve well apparently did not get her name and l only saw her once on the 26th she was off, she is a sweetheart too.

For a 3star hotel surely they can do better especially the waiters... Rooms were cleaned very late... Few choices for dinner... Wil never forget the embarrassment l went thru my first day there due to their lack of communication

A great place to stay if you’re in the area or passing through. My accommodation price included dinner and breakfast which were both excellent. The lodge was clean and well presented, and the terrace overlooking the river provided an excellent place to watch the sunset with a cold drink. The staff were all super friendly and helpful from start to finish.Th

Great welcome. Absolutely fantastic for birds and wildlife. Could easily spend hours enjoying the stunning view from the room and grounds. Everyone friendly and helpful, the manageress was lovely, coming to speak with us at meals. Sundowner Boat trip fabulous, great guide. To have the amazing Mahangu Core Reserve only 15 minutes away was excellent, Elephant, Giraffe, Hippo and so much more. The food was delicious, catering for our vegetarian diet. For birders the views of Rock Pratincoles just incredible, I saw over 150 species of bird in a day in this area. Would love to return again.
