Rock Park Penthouse

Good location

Nothing.

On arrival the main entrance hall smelt damp and musty. Not ideal first impression. We went up the first two flights of stairs and decided that this was not the place for us to stay. One of us had asthma and another was not so mobile. The stairs and damp musty smell exacerbated asthma. We did not actually get up and into the apartment.

The fully equipped kitchen was fantastic. We were able to do a wash and dry of clothes. The living room area, although compact, was very comfortable.

The beds were uncomfortable for 2 people, so, luckily, we could sleep separately. The pillows were a bit soft for our liking. We didn't appreciate that the apartment was on the 4th floor.

Low ceilings and abit cramped but understood as it’s in the roof!

Very cozy apartment, had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again, if in the area. Free parking was available, both at the back of the property, as well on the street, which is a very quiet cul-de-sac. Right outside there is a nice park, where you can go for a walk etc.

Not the fault of the host, but we were unlucky to stay here during a very warm sunny day and, it being a penthouse at the top of the building, it was very warm, even at night. Lots of stairs, but again, not the fault of the host and was advertised as such.

The mattresses on both beds were like lying on a hard plank that had been topped with filled bags of lumpy stuffing. So uncomfortable - I slid off. Utterly un able to sleep on them. My son and I had to both sleep on the sofa which was hard and cramped. It was unbearably hot and smelt eggy. The shower didn’t work, and the bath was a small rectangle and perfect for a 9 year old - very restrictive - it said on the bathroom wall something like “soak away the day and take it easy” which was ironic. The toilet seat was slippy and came loose which Nicole the person handling the property blamed on us and said the shower not working was also our fault but blamed a door handle I reported as hanging off on previous guests. Seems as though everything wrong was “someone else’s” fault. It was however clean apart from the eggy smell. I asked for a refund…Nicole didn’t like that. Also wear a hard hat the sloped ceilings with catch you unawares.

This little flat is ideally situated for a short stop-over being a short walk from shops and pubs and adjacent to Rock Park. Car parking is free and close to the property. The wifi is good and the TV has Netflix.

We understood that the flat would be small with low ceilings, and although obvious care had originally been taken with the decor, this hasn’t been continued. There was also an unpleasant smell from the drains permeating the flat while we were there which marred our stay. Also little things had been ignored by the owner - there was a broken handle on the kitchen unit, the shower head had come off its fixing and a broken shelf in the bathroom.

To many stairs for two of us beds a little small would better with 2 singles at least in one bedroom

Lots of stairs as on top floor and very low ceilings, could not stand in bath!! No shower.
