The Courtyard Rooms

Have stayed at the Courtyard before so knew what to expect. It's in a central location in Brightlingsea and always clean and fresh in the rooms.

The property forgot to send the access details until prompted as I wanted to check in. They solved it quickly and courteously so no real issue, but if I hadn't stayed there before would have been more of a concern. (It hasn't happended before !)

We got upgraded on arrival at The Courtyard and our room was outstanding. If you get the option to book the family room (room 6) please do. Great communication with Victoria before check-in and once we arrived. The cleanliness of the room was excellent. Location also superb. Very close to the marina/beach, so had a lovely stroll around this and close to the birthday party we were attending (the reason for our visit). There is a communal area but we didn't make use of this.

This location is a set of rooms plus a separate common room. The facilities are just that so not much to mark. There are no staff on site though the host communicated well so I've marked that as excellent. Beds are good, I'd happily stay more nights to work out how comfortable! This is the second time I have used this location because it meets needs of being simple to book, warm and clean. Food shops are within easy walking distance.

Perfect for our one night stay. Well equipped and clean. Great location. Secure free parking.

Nothing to dislike.

The room was functional but very small. It did have decent quality bedding. Bathroom towels OK. Old TV needs replacing, not enough sockets near TV, difficult to have the little fridge and kettle plugged in at the same time. Fridge was off on arrival.

No hot water from bathroom sink. Electric shower was poor. Heater in bedroom did not seem to work and bathroom had an old fashioned infrared heater. Bathroom fan switched off, noisy when switched on. Hard to dry, wet clothing, with this type of heater. Bathroom had not been cleaned for a while as scum mark under soap dispenser on bathroom sink. Water left in kettle on arrival. No breakfast, but good cafe across the road. Not worth asking price of £120.00 per night. Parking for two / three small guest cars, otherwise have to park on nearby street.

My 3rd visit. The decor is beautiful and everything tasteful. Plenty of space & big bathroom. It was nice & warm, although some instructions on how to regulate the heaters would have been helpful. Off street parking was appreciated.

I had hoped to book the twin room but it was unavailable, so had to use the sofa bed option in the "family room". We had to search for the bedding for the sofa bed which was not nicely folded ready for use, but screwed up in a drawer. Nice to have tea making facilities, but teaspoons should also be supplied. I didn't feel it was value for money, as I did on previous visits in the twin room.

Was very cosy and well decorated. Check in was super easy and being in a gated area gave us peace of mind as we’re not from the area. All in all, a lovely stay and would recommend.

Sadly the kitchen needed sprucing up. It felt grimy.

A regular clean by cleaner to remove flies on window sills, stained sink greasy air fryer. Kettle in common room not working

Homely feel, bed was super comfy.

Shower was slow and couldn't seem to adjust the temperature (was very very hot).
