Retreat Guest House

The food was excellent and it was a very quiet setting. The room was very spacious and clean. The decor throughout was very tasteful.

The water for the shower only ran cold.

Wish i knew that the room didn’t came with AC included or else i would of paid to have AC but besides that i was great 10/10 i will be back for a longer period next time 🙏🏾🥰♥️

The housekeeper David was really friendly and helpful! Good breakfast, the porridge was great.

You need a car to get to the guesthouse, the location is quite far off.

I like the staff, they was good and friendly. The Guest house was clean and in good order.

I didn't like that the water was warm all the time.

It was a nice setting with trees, plants. It was quiet, peaceful except for occasional bickering between staff and other incidents when I confronted the host, were not dealt with in a pleasant or professional manner. I liked Ms. Joyce's son David. However, he had to obey Ms. Joyce's demands which created many quarrels. One such incident occurred on my arrival when he was refused $50 from her and he asked me for it! I don't dislike Ms. Joyce. However she is relentless about reminding guests about the cost of running her guest house and because of reason stated below spoiled my overall experience.

The way I was treated by the Ms. Joyce. The room I booked was changed and was moved for a made-up reason, i.e. that the room was for only one person, not a couple. I was relocated to less nice room and my Jamaican boyfriend felt uncomfortable staying with me at that point. Within a couple days my original room was rented to another couple, proving that a fabricated reason for me being relocated was at play. I have proof of this claim that states the amenities in the room I had booked. Booking this particular room was the primary reason I selected this property. There were also many other disturbing incidents that happened. I read one of the reviews that stated a "nickel and dime" issue, and didn't give much thought, but unfortunately it matched my own experience. One such issue occurred with an exorbitant charge for air conditioning use in my room, for which I had to pay an additional $30US per day! The room was unbearably hot room, impossible to be comfortable without. Even though I paid this fee, I was constantly harangued by Ms. Joyce to turn off my fan and ac off when I left the room, and one time someone went into my room and turned the ac unit off! When I confronted the host, I was called a liar! I also was troubled by people removing or using items that I purchased, were stored in the kitchen's fridge. The guest home is also a good distance from the beach which drives the cost up for taxi service which the host offers at $10US one-way for a less than 10 minute drive to the beach. In addition to all of this, there are water pressure issues in the shower. Many times I had to let the host know and it was not satisfactorily dealt with. There was no hot water but because it was so hot during my visit I didn't bother to mention this problem. I have stayed in numerous guest homes and hotels in Jamaica and I never had so many difficulties.

We had the seaview room and the view from the balcony was breathtaking. The room itself was large and spacious and well appointed. Ms Joyce is a most gracious host...made us feel like family. Big up David. My wife and I enjoyed. Property about 20-30 mins from Montego Bay and Discovery Bay....away from the hustle and bustle of the city but easy travel on the highway to the beach by Puerto Seco or to Mobay.

Maybe a mini fridge in the room to keep some cool drinks or water.

My husband and I loved everything about the property. From the room to the play area to the pool. It was great.

Beautiful house in the hills. The pictures of the location are accurate. This is the place to go if you want to support local Jamaicans. The hosts are wonderful and caring and genuinely want you to enjoy your stay.

We struggles with air conditioning and we understood that all rooms came with air conditioning. However this was not the case. We were moved to another room that was supposed to have air conditioning but it was also not functioning. Unfortunately we had to leave the next morning. Also there was a charge for soap. So we did not have soap to wash our hands with when we arrived. Something to make note of.
