The Merchants House

It is a very old guesthouse, full of character. Fiona gave us a very warm welcome, fed & “watered” us even though we arrived late. Our room had a fantastic view over the loch, any closer and we’d be swimming. The breakfast was delicious, it wasn’t included in the room rate, but not expensive and freshly cooked

It was exactly what I hoped it would be - absolutely no complaints.

The homely atmosphere The company: Fiona and her assistant Bernie are great company, The food Fiona cooks is amazing, top quality ingredients well cooked, try the salmon or the fish and chips both excellent The bed was comfy, lovely white cotton bedding Tea, coffee and biscuits provided in the room Cleanliness: top marks The setting: overlooking the sea provided a great view We spent one night here on our way to Northern Ireland as part of my 70th birthday holiday. It got off to an excellent start staying with Fiona. We will definitely return Whilst situated on the main road we had no trouble sleeping, even with the window open as it was a warm night

Very good evening meal. We chose haddock and chips but any of the other possibilities could have been chosen.

Very easy to find. Parking outside on Main Street. Friendly owner. Sea view from room was great. Evening meal provided was a generous tasty meal

Quaint, charming, historical, right on the water in a very small village of 142 people! Very peaceful. The hostess and owner Fiona went above and beyond. Her cooking is amazing! We ate both dinner and breakfast there. Bill, the bartender was a hoot! Loved it.
