Waverley Park House

The location was good for a family funeral. The young man that met us was courteous and polite. Free parking was a bonus.

On first look around, it looked clean enough but after a quick inspection all was not as good as it should be. Not only was the bed linen of very poor quality. I would definitely say they weren't fresh. Stain on the duvet cover and no smell of them being freshly laundered. The tap in the bathroom sink was not attached to the basin. We had no spoons to make/stir tea/coffee. The walls in the building were paper thin. At one point my husband took to the staircase to find whose tv was still playing very loudly at 3.40am.

Extremely nice and helpful staff

Very clean, and room was comfortable enough. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Fine for a basic one-night stay. My room was at the back and very quiet, but I imagine a front room would be quite noisy.

I was told to phone a number when I arrived and someone would be there within 10 minutes. In fact, I phoned and texted several times, and the number wasn't working. I waited nearly an hour before a passerby advised me to go to a nearby shop, and they contacted the owner for me, who then arrived promptly. This arrangement needs sorting out. It's not good enough to have to wait that long.

The room smelt of cigarettes. The heating didn’t work. The bed wasn’t that comfortable The fan didn’t work above the shower The bedside lights didn’t work. The tap was falling off No breakfast Poor communication Hard to get in the place. Handel fallen off bedside cupboard - I placed it on top.

The room and bed were very comfortable, with a good shower and good lighting. All the check-in arrangements went smoothly.

It was all fine for me.
