Golden King Residence

It was spotless and they arranged a desk for me after picking us up so I could attend a work meeting . We enjoyed the welcome tea and cake too. They were very helpful, communicative and proactive. The food was extremely tasty too. The bathroom was really nicely done and clean and we had a nice hot water shower.

It’s a little out of the way from town and wouldn’t be easy to walk to from town, but we had a pleasant walk down the roads to town.

The view is beautiful and peaceful — perfect for a relaxing stay. It’s great value for the price. The host is kind, very helpful, and always available on WhatsApp for directions or any questions. He even owns a similar property in Nuwara Eliya, which we didn’t get to visit due to rain. The location is ideal — quiet on a hill with a lovely view, yet very close to the lake, temple, and local market. Only 300 LKR by tuk-tuk or 500 LKR by PickMe car.

Our room was amazing, with a stunning view over Kandy. Although it’s close to the city center, it truly feels like you’re living in the jungle, surrounded by jackfruit trees, playful monkeys, and the calming sounds of nature. At night, the soft songs of birds and the peaceful atmosphere helped us fall asleep with ease. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, they even picked us up and treated us to a lovely tea and an even better breakfast. The hotel is brand new, beautifully set in the mountains, and perfect for anyone looking to relax in the greenery and breathe in fresh, clean air. We totally recommend it!

It's a bit of a walk from the center, and the uphill climb on the way back can be a bit challenging.

We‘re used to and happy about a simple breakfast, but that was just not good at all plus more expensive than any other breakfast in town. The rooms don’t have AC, there is only a bed in there, the rooms get rent out but it looks like the building’s renovation isn’t finished yet. The owner seemed to be upset with us choosing someone else to drive us to our next stay. But his offer was a rip off. Instead of accepting, he wanted to discuss it with me endlessly. I felt pressured and uncomfortable. Not professional. I never had an experience like this in Sri Lanka before.
