Beach front apartment

The apartment is pleasant and cozy. The location is awesome to see the seaside. Less than a minute walk up to the beach where you can see the massive tide change each day. The Portobello Beach area feels very residential and relaxing.

Excellent location close to beach and Portobello high Street. Frequent buses into Edinburgh. Flat had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Felt at home.

Exterior and outer front door looked quite shabby but don't let that put you off!

Great location right next to the beach and close to the High Street shops and bars/restaurants. Lots to enjoy in Portobello, and there are frequent buses to take you in to the city centre in about 25 minutes. Free on street parking near by. Although we didn’t use it the kitchen seemed to have everything you’d need although most white goods are tucked away in a cupboard. Good wifi and large tvs. Very comfortable sofas, and king size bed. We didn’t experience any noise or disturbance from the other apartments in the block. We would certainly stay here again.

Initial communication with the host was slow, but improved after contacting Booking.com. Generally clean but some slight housekeeping issues such as dusty blinds, and the contents of the cutlery drawer being dirty. The communal stairway smells of stale smoke, but this didn’t permeate to the apartment. The shower drains slowly. I would have felt safer with a second lock or chain on the apartment door.

Host was fantastic accidentally turned up a day early but we were lucky enough to be able to stay. The apartment itself. The outside is quite run down. The 2 security doors don't feel very secure. The door to the apartment itself also doesn't feel very safe. However we never ran into any trouble. The building was quiet so we always slept well. The inside of the apartment is very nice. Looks like it has been newly renovated to a high standard. Lots of storage for clothes in the bedroom and the bed is very comfortable. Sofa is also super comfy. The kitchen is well equipped and also has lots of storage. But there wasn't any proper cutlery only plastic. Overall cleanliness was quite poor. I'm not sure if it's because we arrived a day early but I was informed that the apartment had been cleaned before our arrival. As soon as we opened the door we were greated with a cigarette bud on the floor. The table was sticky and had crumbs on it. The kitchen cupboards had greasy hand prints all over them. The mirror and both tvs were dirty and dusty. Lots of sand and crumbs under the sofa cushions. The towels provided were not cleaned as we found them to have toothpaste and lipstick marks on them so we had to wash them.The bathroom and bedroom seemed to be nice and clean. The shower drains very slowly so you have to be really careful not to flood the bathroom which is really annoying! We still had a pleasant stay but I definitely think that the cleaners of this place are taking the owner for a mug! Which is a shame because Mathew seems really lovely. Overall I'd rate this place a 3/5. If given a really good clean and the door to the apartment was replaced I'd give it 4.5/5.

excellent location. well appointed compact apartment

Apartment itself was a good size, plenty of light and ventilation,located right beside the beach.The balcony,and the two large TVs were very handy.

The entrance hallway was a bit dark and shabby ,a coat of paint wouldn't go amiss.

Position of bed, plastic knifes,spoons and no instructions for tv plus no mirrow in bathroom for shaving, and very dark passage way, witch i had a fall over step .left after one night.

This is not a beachfront apartment, there is not even a view of the beach.
