"Good old fashioned service, right on the seafront"

8.0

Right on the sea front, staff were super nice and helpful. Traditional Breakfast choices were really great with tablecloths, napkins and silver! Strong WiFi. Rooms were dated but very clean. Liked the old lift. Stepping back in time.

Friendly staff, old fashioned polite and friendly service. On direct and frequent bus route to town and other resorts.

Traffic noise from main road. Very small bathroom.

"Old fashioned, out of date, run down hotel that needs to be brought upto date with current day standards."

Location

Very old fashioned and not as clean as they like to say it is. We had flies in the room and bathroom that i couldnt get rid of and midges that kept landing on us throughout the night. we actually had old itchy blankets and flowery 1950’s throw over the top. Food was not as good as they make out, it was worst than pub grub but they wanted to charge 5star prices. The lamb was three slices and gravy that was clearly a boil in the bag type as well as the salmon with old warmed up vegetables. The breakfast had no taste and was like cardboard, no flavour and completely dried out. The waiter was wearing a black coat with tails that was clearly very old and worn out, as it was stained with white marks and very shiny from the amount of times it had iron, sleeves were too long and hung over his hands. There was old damp smell throughout the building and the lifts are soo old that my children wouldn’t get into them because the very sight of them scared them. I am not sure era this hotel is suppose to be set in because it was a complete mix match of anything between 1930’s - 1980’s including the ice cold pool outside. Not as advertised and should not be charging what they are for a stay as alot of work is required to bring it upto current standards from hotels today. Do not be fooled by the pictures or their own reviews.

Our nice room had a great sea view, despite busy traffic on the seafront road. The hotel is quiet, spacious; we felt comfortable and relaxed. The dining room is spacious. Dinner was expensive, but it was excellent food, nicely served by friendly efficient staff in formal dress. Breakfast is a wide selection of cereals and fruit. It was a great start to our day, cooked breakfast and coffee, looking out over the seafront.

Location

As with my stay in June this year nothing as changed in the dining room at breakfast,if it wasn't for the headwaters it would be a mess,I was there for 4 mornings only one morning did I have to wait less then 10 mins to be served and it was not busy,I have now become accustomed to this.
