Dear Sir or Madam, I paid for my hotel accommodation through Booking.com and, upon arrival at the hotel, encountered what appears to be a typical deceptive practice involving additional charges that were not disclosed on the website or during the booking process. The hotel administration demanded an additional payment of $50 as a โ€œsecurity depositโ€ for potential damages or loss prevention. At checkout, I was initially informed that the deposit would be returned immediately after inspection of the room. However, the following morning I was told that the funds would only be returned within 12 business days. I insisted that the room be inspected immediately in my presence and requested that the hotel administrator sign the printed receipt confirming that the room was in proper condition, or specify any alleged damages if such existed. I spent approximately one hour persuading the administrator to conduct the inspection immediately. Instead, the hotel staff attempted to force me to leave the premises while they planned to inspect the room later during the day, without my presence. Ultimately, the hotel withheld my deposit despite the fact that I possess signed copies of the inspection documents confirming that the room was left in proper condition and without damage. Due to the delay caused by the hotel administration, I missed an important scheduled meeting with a prospective employer. I had traveled from Saint Louis, Missouri specifically for this meeting in order to begin employment. As a direct consequence of the hotel administrationโ€™s actions, I suffered financial loss, lost the employment opportunity, and experienced significant moral and material damages. I respectfully request immediate action regarding: 1. The return of my $50 deposit; 2. Compensation for the financial and moral damages caused by the hotel administrationโ€™s conduct. Sincerely, Oleg Zaychenko +1 (314) 728-8807
