Hereford Road Shrewsbury Cottage

The property was clean and very tidy- sadly a build up of black bin bags at the entrance was not a good impression- we were told they had been there for weeks , that and an uncared for garden was very disappointing

The single mattress was very soft causing very poor sleep for the 3 nights we stayed

The code number for the lock box was wrong on the correspondence. A quick call to the owner soon put it right. Towel and tea towel would have been useful in the kitchen. These were on the whole minor things.

Convenient location, well equipped house

On arrival, we discovered that the entire house smelt like cigarettes, even after airing all of the rooms. As non-smokers, this was incredibly unpleasant but we had no where else to stay at short notice. I was offered an apology and a £50 refund, but this does not make up for the distress it has caused me, putting my baby to sleep in a smoker's cottage. Since leaving, all of our belongings now smell like cigarettes, including the baby's clothes, which is utterly depressing and has ruined our holiday. This was wrongly advertised as a non-smoking house and should be amended. I would not have booked if I had known and do not recommend staying here.

Location was ideal as we were on a walking weekend break. Easy to park and drive out to our walking locations. House was clean and smelt fresh on arrival. Everything we needed for a short break.

Sofa not particularly comfortable, but we were only home one evening so it didn’t affect our stay. Beds very soft.

We could fill an A4 page easily with all the faults and inaccuracies with this property, we are extremely dissatisfied and would welcome discussing this with both bookings.com and the owners
