Canterbury Black Horse Inn

Room, including the bed, was clean and comfortable. Shower was excellent. Breakfast, although small, was good quality, and my fried egg was perfect.

Somewhere cheap(ish) to sleep near to Canterbury city centre.

Parking is NOT FREE. Parking is on street (max 4 hours +overnight) or at nearby (4 min walk) multistory. Parking added £20 to our overall cost for an overnight stay.

This Hotel was very clean. The public rooms -Decor and furnishings were really lovely. Breakfast was good, cooked fresh for each order. The location was within walking distance of the city centre. The rooms clean. There was plenty of hot water for showers. Our bed was comfortable. There was a lovely garden off the dining room.

There was no reception. Coded locks were provided for the street door, and inner lockers within which were electronic individual room keys. Frankly, this was a bit of a faff - with several attempts made at each stage to gain entry to each portal. Our room, though clean, was really a single room with a double bed. It was tiny and stuffy. (Radiator, which was on full, actually touched the bed with no wiggle room to change it) There were two ladies, cooking and serving breakfast. They were very pleasant but spoke very little English. They were therefore not able to help with any problems.

Nice garden. I suspect some of the other rooms were nice.

Room smelt damp. Automatic light on stairs so sensitive that it would come on randomly when trying to sleep. Fridge too loins to keep on at night. No hot water, so needed cold showers.

Nice old pub, location is near Canterbury West and you can park in the street at cost or round the corner for free. Ev charger/parking nearby. Breakfast was very good and cooked to order with good spread of other items.

Room quite small and was ground level (knew this) and facing the street. With the window open for air we did hear people talking as they went by. Then at 6am when my wife went to shower the water was stone cold. Same for me an hr later. Did report this but needed a handytman so assume it wasnt a timer/controller issue. Other customers reported hot water was fine so local to my room.

Location, it is near to city centre. The breakfast was really good.

NO adequate parking nearby despite the website saying there was. NO remote for T.V despite two phone calls to someone who presumably works for the hotel. Automatic light at bottom of stairs to the room went on and off ALL night so sleep was nigh on impossible.

The room was tidy and the breakfast very tasty

Black Horse Inn was perfectly located, with clean and comfortable rooms. Moreover, the hotel staff were exceptionally helpful. I accidentally left my phone at the hotel, and Nat from Black Horse kindly went out of her way to ensure it was safely sent to me in London.
