Theros Cottage - garden & sea breeze

Theros Cottage is a lovely space in Nafplion’s old town. Situated right under the Acronauplia fortress it looks out over nearby rooves and, from the small roof top terrace, to the harbour. Because of the many steps and narrow streets that lead to the cottage, access demands some agility and fitness. Pack light luggage (you won't need much anyway). The positive side of this layout is the complete absence of noise from cars or motobikes! Just birds and the wind and the chiming of the nearby clocktower are to be heard. The charming house is small: 3 rooms and a very small kitchen and an even smaller bathroom. The furniture is new, the rooms are nicely decorated and even with the very basic kitchen supplies we managed very well. The refrigerator is large and has a deep freeze. Everything was spotless and clean. Very comfortable beds, good air conditioning (we used it only temporaryly) and good hot water supply make daily life easy. Elena, who takes care of the guests, is very friendly and helpful. She responded immediately to our questions and even came by to help us personally. The garden offers a shady terrace with a large table, chairs and a hammock. We spent most of our one week stay in June outside and enjoyed it very much. There are two beaches in walking distance and you will find many restaurants and bars close by to spend the evening. If you are not taking an aperitivo on your roof top terrace try the restaurants along the Mbouboulina harbour promenade around sunset. The views over the hills and mountains on the other side of the bay are spectacular. Temporarily the owner might show up and spend some time in her separate apartment. Then you have to share the main entrance to the premises but we did not find it difficult since there is a clear agreement about the areas for tenants/owner.

People with mobility problems will find it difficult to reach the place and to move in the garden where also several stairs lead from one level to the next.

Lovely courtyard

Elena immer erreichbar, sehr charmant und hilfreich und hat viele Infos zum Cottage und der Umgebung geschickt

Wir haben eine wunderschöne Zeit in Elenas Cottage verbracht. Es liegt mitten in der Altstadt von Nafplio und strahlt eine angenehme, ruhige Atmosphäre aus. Dazu trägt auch die liebevolle Dekoration der Räume, die makellos sauber sind, bei. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt. Elena ist eine überaus freundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeberin, die alles tat, um uns den Aufenthalt schön zu gestalten. Wir konnten von hier aus auch interessante Ausflüge zu den Highlights der Umgebung machen. Besonders schön war es dann, in den sonnigen Garten zurückzukommen, wo wir immer von zwei niedlichen jungen Katzen, die hier leben, begrüßt wurden. Kurz gesagt: Wir hätten wirklich keine bessere Wahl treffen können.

Great old city location, , excellent beds and linen, very large outside terrace area with a view, charming, decorative/lots of personal touches, free parking area was always available (but yes, a bit of a walk)

Yes, the bathroom is small (as others have mentioned), but the shower itself is very good; the kitchen is also not very large, but sports a modern large fridge and microwave - and you are literally 100m away from lots of inexpensive eateries.

Mitten in der Altstadt. Sehr engagierte Gastgeberin.

Die auf einem Bild abgebildete Hängematte war nicht mehr nutzbar, da ein Baum gefällt werden musste. Hatte mich darauf gefreut. Kein Drama! Keine Parkmöglichkeit in der unmittelbaren Nähe (nicht überraschend). Bei Ankunft und Abfahrt (Koffer) etwas herausfordernd.

Bathroom a bit small. Difficult to get luggage to property- would have been helpful if this was mentioned in the description
