Samuu Homestay Mirissa

Nothing special. There are plenty of other good places to stay in Mirissa.

The drainage is very poor, and when it rains, the water rises right up to the entrance of the room, so you should keep your shoes somewhere high. If you need to use the restroom, you may have to wade through the water. Although we never ordered bottled water, an elderly woman handed us one with a smile. We assumed it was complimentary, thanked her, and accepted it, but we were later charged for it at checkout. In addition, we were charged more than the price shown on Booking.com. The staff explained that it was for taxes, even though the Booking.com price already included taxes and fees. A younger staff member told us that everyone pays it. The amount itself was small, but the experience felt dishonest and uncomfortable. I have stayed in more than 30 accommodations around the world, and this was the first time I felt deceived.

I like the environment of the homestay; the host family was welcoming, as it was easy to keep up a conversation with them. I felt welcomed and felt as if I was part of their family too. They are attentive and well-mannered, they give excellent advice on the area, giving suggestions on things to do, and answer all my enquiries. It is well worth the price for the homestay as I enjoyed the company and kindness of the hosts.

The rooms were nice, but I would like more ventilation in the room. If I could fully open the window without it being affected by winds at night would be nice. But the fan did enough to keep me cool.

The family were super friendly and went above to make our stay so nice! The house was located in a really good spot and you could enjoy the big tasty breakfast in their lovely garden. There was also a kitchen if you wanted to make food or keep things in the fridge which was an added bonus. We ended up extending an extra day as we loved it!

Kely and Nirmala were so kind and generous. They have a lovely garden where you can relax, and they cooked us the tastiest breakfast we’ve had in Sri Lanka! Very close to Mirissa beach and secret beach. Thank you!

Little warm in the room at night.

The ladies were both so nice ;) Nice garden…Close to the beach a literally just minute from the bus stand. Close to everything; Thanks for the stay!

Sehr sehr nette zuvorkommende Gastgeberin, sehr herzlich. Unterkunft super, mit Garten und eigene Küche, inklusive Kühlschrank. Das beste Frühstück in SriLanka, viel, lecker und mit sehr viel Liebe zubereitet. Auch noch im 11uhr. Mit selbstgemachte Fruchtsäfte. Super lecker und abwechslungsreich.

Keine negativen Punkte, war alles super. Nur zur Info, Gemeinschaftsbad.

il y a énormément de moustiques dans la chambre et il fait très chaud la nuit (il n’y a que un ventilateur)

Wonderful family. Very helpful and friendly. You feel welcome and warm with them. Good location and good rooms. Also a beautiful garden and nice dogs 🙂
