Reggae paradise hostel

The owner treated everyone staying here as a family, he took us fishing next to the lake, we cooked and ate together so we basically got free cooking class and lunch. He also took some people out to eat. Overall very kind and fun people, trying their best even with the language barrier. The location is great and you can also buy food at the hostel so it’s very convenient.

If sleep is important to you, you’re gonna have to ask people not to sit next to the dorm wall because you’ll hear everything even with earplugs. And also ask that the music get’s turned down when you’re about to sleep.

It’s cheap so it’s pretty basic but I really enjoyed it here. The host makes such an effort to get everyone socialising - as soon as I go there he invited me along to a cheap safari with some of the other guests. This is the kind of place where it’d be hard to not make friends! That said, the pics are a little misleading as there’s only 8 beds in the dorm so it’s an intimate kind of social vibe The restaurant/lounge space was a fun place to hang out and the dogs are very sweet The staff were hospitable and keen to put food and drink down in front of you. Loved the pancakes for breakfast and the kottu. It was raining so I didn’t go but I get the impression there’s a sunrise trip to the viewpoint every day which would have been cool. Location good - right near the village, bus station, and lion rock.

Look, if you want very comfortable rooms and beds it's not the place for you (bed size 180 cm). But if you're looking for a cheap stay, very chill and friendly staff, affordable, tasty food and local experience this is 100% place for you. Owner is the most chill guy on whole Sri Lanka and he will show you around and give great advice for the rest of your stay on the island.

Nice place, very cheerful energy and patio with tables very close to the street of all the restaurants and close to lion rock. The owner is very friendly and makes you feel at home. Loves reggae and music and chatting and will pass that on to you. very helpful and helpful with anything you need. If you are looking for a relaxed atmosphere, close by and with a bit of social movement it will suit you very well!!!
