Pondok Dete Guesthouse

I liked the location close to the harbour and that it was on a quiet street. I liked that they proposed a driver, which was kind, although overpriced.

I didn’t like the fact that I had to cross a busy road to get to the harbour, the fact that my room downstairs had mould (an entire wall with mould) and naphtalene to kill the smell and that it was never properly ventilated.

Everything was clean and tidy. It was a short walk from the beach. Had a very nice outdoor space and a balcony. For the price, things were mostly as expected, and you can’t ask for more for what you pay.

The door to the property was almost a bit scary. It appears very flimsy. Luckily this property is on a tucked away street. The air con was somewhat musty. The shower drain was quite blocked and water took a while to go down, leaving the bathroom flooded. There is an open air window in the bathroom which is not great for mosquitoes, noise, bugs etc.There is no safe either.

We haven’t met with the owner but his communication with us was very well. He was very kind . The room was spacious and clean. It was close to harbour to go to nusa penida. We used here just to sleep to use the boat in the morning

Clean room, AC working good, towels and water were in the room. Good room for this money . I spent only 1 night there before my travel to the island.

It is away from the main road and thus quiet from the traffic noise. The room was clean and I even saw the staff mopping the floor. It was a 10 min walk to Sanur harbour. Not too long if you're not carrying a lot of luggage. Do note that you'll need to cross the main road although it was relatively easy as there is a break in the traffic, or the traffic will slow down for you. Importantly, walk across the road and not run. The staff receiving me was gracious and friendly and helped carry my luggage to the 2nd floor. He also offered to store my luggage after check out FOC at his home until I retrieved later that afternoon. The compound was nice and clean. It would be good to use the paid shuttle offered by the guesthouse as the driver would know how to drive in as the lane into the guesthouse is narrow and not prominent. The staff was also quick to reply messages. The aircon was cold enough to 25 degrees Celsius. It may take a while though.

The shower and toilet amenities. Soap was not provided. The shower area drainage was not sufficient and thus a pool of water formed. It did drain off eventually. The bedsheet was black in colour, but it looked clean. The building looked a bit unfinished, so a bit of touching up would have made the ambience nicer. It was functional, but not if you're there for a romantic getaway.
