Very cheap and super easy to build connections. Staff are very friendly and helpful The rooftop offers an amazing place to hang out at night and for sunrise.

1: too many mosquitos in the dorm room. I couldn't sleep well. Luckily when I changed to a single room there were no mosquitos. but the bathroom smelt so strongly of cigarettes and cleaning chemicals. And the couch was so gross and filthy it should really be changed to a new one. 2. Very importantly, as a traveler, there are information and tips that I need when I 1st arrive at a place. Staff never told me anything that would have been so helpful..I had to find out myself over time. The Hostel would be really helpful but providing the following which I had to find out myself: 1) always provide the street numbers to the tuktuk drivers before you set off, so they can figure out where you're going. 2) military does not allow drones. I was told a Japanese fellow traveler didn't know this and flew his, and was told off by hostel staff only just then. 3) There is a really lovely night market - which only has 2 stalls - right outside the Palace walls ! Why didn't anyone tell me this I was lucky to chance upon it when we were out and about. The atmosphere is really lovely there. People cycling, you can rent a bike; you can get a meal at Castle Hill stall or a juice there or an ice cream; 4) There are a lot of restaurants around. These should be suggested upon arrival, so travelers know where to go to buy food. A lot of them are within walking distance , such as Mingalar Bar & Restaurant. which has very authentic food and good prices. I personally recommend The Artist Bar & Restaurant, the view from up there is fantastic !! 5) certain streets tuktuks aren't allowed to go by the police / military, so you need to be prepared to go with an unnecessary detour that cannot be helped. 6) you cannot go through the streets that have barbed wired barricades, even if they are wide open for pedestrians. Those are military zones. 7) tuktuk drivers know a lot about the changedul rules and places because they travel often. Ask them for info.

I chose to stay here to make friends and I met people immediately. There are very friendly people here and staff are super helpful with arranging tuktuk driver for my day trips. I really like the books on the bookshelf and the sunrise from the rooftop. The people that stay here are great and made it easy to build connections.

Breakfast was good. Staff helped sort onward travel. Lockers in the room were good and was relatively clean

No fan downstairs making it uncomfortably hot. Was told laundry turnaround time was two days despite only around six bags being in the queue.

Breakfast is great, the terrace is superb and the staff is amazing!

Cheap, friendly staff, good warm breakfast, foreigner friendly, good rooftop and very well maintained compare to other hotels that's more expensive.

Always a mosquito that comes up from the sink and the drain that smelled bad, the AC had no controller so we couldn't change temperature

I liked everything 🩵 From Julian the Big Manger, through the cleaners, the receptionist stuff, the restaurant stuff & the valuable great food 🥘 🍕🥟☕️🍹
