Light Lovers Apartment - Principe Real

The apartment was really lovely and bright. It had a lot of amenities, which made our week long stay comfortable and easy. It was in a perfect location, close to a lot of great restaurants, and it was easy to walk to most places. The apartment also had a lovely view.

The apartment got very hot at times, and although we had fans, it didn't cool down the entire apartment.

This was an amazing apartment in a location that could not be better. Francisco is also an excellent host. Would definitely stay again.

We loved our stay in Francisco’s Light Lover’s Apartment. The apartment is on the 3rd level of a charming older building with windows that provide a lovely view of the city as pictured. Swallows flitted about the terra cottage roof tops in the morning and the bridge lights and distant statue sparkled at night. The kitchen was well-equipped - we cooked everyday — even with oils and spices (which we used) as well as coffee and tea. Even though the apartment is close to a busy street, we were blissfully unaware of it. When we arrived everything was clean and welcoming. The location was perfect. We enjoyed the neighborhood’s old tilework, the cafe life that spilled into the sweet, neighborhood park. We were within walking distance of restaurants and super markets (ADLI is the closest, though we also liked Continente BOM Dia Santa Quiteria, as well as CAO Grande for a few local produce items.). We had hoped to swim and exercise at the nearby National Club of Swimming but it was closed in August - ah, well. We were also walked to many of Lisbon’s attractions. And, we took the train to Belem, Cascais and Sintra for day trips. Francisco was a great host. He met us at the apartment and showed us everything. He gave us nice recommendations. He checked in a couple of days later to ensure everything with the apartment was fine - great communicator. And, because we were staying for 9 nights, he scheduled a mid-week cleaning (and she did a great job.). Thanks, Francisco! This was our first visit to Lisbon - what a lovely city.

Extremely minor things to note. The mattress was a bit firm. (My husband is now noting there were some quilts we might have used to soften it which I failed to notice.) If you are a squeamish animal lover, do note there is some hunting art on the walls (I.e. painting with a bird in a dog’s mouth - that sort of thing.)

A very nice area to live in when in Lisbon, close by centre but still far enough for it to be quite and get a good nights sleep. The apartment was very cozy and equipped well with a nice decorating touch. Franscisco was a great host and easy to get a hold of when needed, even had arranged complimentary wine and coffee for us which was much appreciated. We never cooked in the kitchen but the view from there was very nice in the morning. Having a washing machine available in the apartment, and the Dyson fan kept us cool at night made it another plus. An overall recommended stay in Lisbon!

A bit of dust and dirt around the floors and under the bed. Could use some more thorough vacuuming. The bed was a bit hard but this is probably a personal preference depending on each guest. In the bathroom there were quite strong fragrance sticks which (when we moved them out because of asthma) we understood was covering a damp smell in the bathroom. Seems to be common with old bathrooms in Portugal though.

Light lovers' apartment was our last stay in a 2 month holiday in Spain and Portugal We had 6 nights. Absolutely perfect apartment. It has everything you need it was very quiet as it's in a residential area, not tourists area Great restaurant and cafes. It had a washing machine, dishwasher, and sofa it felt like home. Would absolutely recommend it if you like the non tourist area. 10/10
