Quiet countryside location

Staff was friendly and helpful.

It was not a spa at all as advertised (yes, there is a pool in the garden and a Jacuzzi, but not sure that constitutes a Spa). There was no reception and no one greeted us upon arrival, we basically bumped into staff while wandering around. The bathroom has no basic shelves to put any toiletries on there, so we had to put our stuff on the floor. There is no tv in the room, although we didn’t check when we booked, we just assumed that a hotel room would have a TV these days. The heating didn’t work and there was no hot water., neither in the shower nor coming out of the faucet. The whole venue looks and feels like unfinished business. The dinner was a a bit of a let down as we waited for about an hour and a half for our food, although the taste was pretty decent.

Priscilla the owner is delightful, helpful and friendly, always there to help.

Layout was confusing with no clear for reception, clear signing would be very helpful,

The rooms were clean and tidy and well decorated except for the ill fitting bathroom door. The gardens were extensive and looked cared for.

The main house was closed due to renovations which we were not made aware of prior to our arrival. There was no obvious reception just a sign saying deliveries and mail and an arrow. We found Priscilla in the garden. There was no hot food available, so no restaurant or cooked breakfast. It was only a one night stay but for £204 (no breakfast included) it seemed expensive for what was available. There were also no pillow cases on my bed. The hall was quite remote so we had to drive 10mins to get an evening meal.

The location was very nice. The food at the yurt was delicious.

We arrived at the same time as another couple. There was no reception, so the 4 of us were wandering around trying to find somebody to point us to our rooms. When we found somebody, they referred to the other (straight) couple as a couple, and not us. They suggested "the couple" gets a king sized bed while we should have two separate double beds. We explicitly told them we were also a couple, but they kept insisting we must not want a shared bed. The staff needs training, this completely ruined the tone for our trip, and we avoided staying around at the location as we were made to feel so uncomfortable.

The room was really comfortable and the staff were amazing. The quality of the breakfast was fantastic and fresh.

We couldn’t find where to check in but this was soon rectified and we were made to feel very welcome.

Location and great owner

It is being upgraded but our room had been fully renovated and was good.
