Absolutely terrible experience – avoid at all costs! I booked a stay at Shell Resort Unawatuna a whole month in advance, expecting a smooth and relaxing trip for a family wedding. Unfortunately, I was left completely disappointed, stressed, and frustrated by the sheer unprofessionalism of this place and their staff – particularly a man named Rashmika Nadeeshan. On the day of our check-in, just a couple of hours before we were supposed to arrive, Rashmika didn’t even have the decency to call me. Instead, he sent a casual, last-minute TEXT telling me that they could no longer accommodate me and my husband. No apology, no solution, no explanation – just a message as if this was some minor inconvenience and not a complete disaster for us. When I texted him back, clearly shocked and upset since we had traveled all the way from Colombo to Unawatuna for a wedding, all he had to say was: “That’s not my problem mam… that’s our management fault.” Excuse me? That’s the kind of customer service you offer? No accountability, no remorse – just passing the blame and washing his hands off it like it wasn’t his concern. What makes this even worse is that I later looked at their Google reviews, only to find that this exact same issue has happened to other guests before. Clearly, this is a recurring issue and not just some rare mistake. They overbook, and when they can’t accommodate people, they simply drop them last-minute without any respect or responsibility. Because of this careless behavior, I had to scramble last-minute to find alternative accommodation, wasting precious time and money, and adding unnecessary stress to what should’ve been a joyful trip. Shell Resort Unawatuna should be ashamed of how they treat their customers. If you’re thinking of booking here, don’t. There are plenty of other places in Unawatuna that actually care about their guests and understand what hospitality means. This resort clearly doesn’t. 0/5 stars. Would never recommend.

Late night music

The service was prompt and very nice. The swimming pool was one of the highlights. Big and spacious room, was cool with the ac and the fan. Nice balcony to relax. The host was very helpful and was very willing to accommodate our needs.
