South Bridge Apartment

Nothing, looks good on advert but in reality everything is run down or of poor quality.

The location. The entrance door and communal entrance are used as a communal area for the local druggies and drunks as it’s next door to a cheap off licence. Upon arrival I was greeted by 10+ tramps, druggies or drunks. 999 was called as I struggled to get the key and secure my luggage. I was told 4 other calls had come in about this issue that night. Other people have mentioned the same in their reviews,I spoke with the owner and she has asked me not to mention this here as it’s her business.I made a mistake and booked this thinking it’s a one off. It’s not. It’s regular. I’m 120kg and 190cm, I was worried. It was horrible. Being in the apartment and hearing the noise from them and when I was coming or going was very nerve wracking. I was even worried about leaving my valuables when we went out.

The location the facilities

There was a smell in the property we couldn’t get rid of and the window wouldn’t close in kitchen, we assumed the smell came from the takeaways in the street

The property is well situated from the station. Inside the property itself it is clean, modern and has a well equipped kitchen. The shower is very nice. It is very close to the royal mile.

The property is very close to many bars and restaurants and because of that is very noisy at the weekend, in the early hours. Take earplugs! We returned early one evening to fresh urine at the external door, where someone had used the doorway as a toilet and the day after worse…. The stairwell to the property is very rundown but once you’re inside the actual property it is very different . The mattress on both beds are very uncomfortable. The springs can be felt through both. They desperately need changing.

Location great, Apartment easy to find and decor was lovely, stylish & fresh.

Unfortunately, two flights of stairs were a little challenging but not a huge issue!

Nukkumamukavuus. Sänky oli itselleni liian kova ja myös sängyssä olevat tyynyt olivat liian suuret/kovat koska olen tottunut nukkumaan pienellä tyynyllä). Olisi ollut kiva jos tyynyillä olisi ollut vaihtoehtoja.

Outstanding location in the middle of town. Very easy to reach from the train station. The flat was clean, a good size, and well presented. The kitchen had the basic equipment necessary to prepare a meal with sufficient seating. The bathroom was in good condition with decent water pressure. The flat was already set up to sleep 6, which was much appreciated. There are 2 bedrooms and the living room can accommodate 2 more people.

The location means that it will often be noisy at night. That didn't bother me so much, but I could see how people used to living in rural areas could find the noise bothersome. The beds have seen better days and were rather uncomfortable, but not a big deal for just 2 or 3 nights.

The Location is good if you reach Edinburgh in public transport.

As you enter the building the common areas haven’t been cleaned since the Regency period. Smells wee amongst other things. The place is really run down. Some bits in the apartment need improvement: beds and sofas have seen better days, mattresses and pillows are very uncomfortable due to age. The cleaning in general could be better. We found some litter under the bed, and the carpet was dirty and stained. Kitchenware is poor and old. This place is not appropriate if you are travelling with kids.
