Location was fine, the house exterior is traditional and could be part of "cosy" property were the interior to complement it, which it doesn't.

Unfortunately, this was the worst property I've ever stayed in on Booking.com. It's three star rating is unacceptable when compared to similarly priced properties in county Durham. This property isn't remotely "cosy". It looks, sadly, like the previous owner has died or moved away, with the new owners throwing a lick of paint on the walls, radiators and doors all of which haven't been updated in 20-30 years. Much of the interior is cheap, grotty, grimy, dirty and dull, from the springy bed with hair in it, to the kitchen units with crumbs in, to the poorly fitted skirting board, carpet, damaged ceiling and walls with years of overpainted wallpaper. I don't think this property is fit for renting out on Booking.com and definitely not with a three star rating. We booked two nights here, stayed one night then left the next day booking somewhere else with the same rating but 100 times nicer, for a similar two night price. The place needs gutting and renovating. The most egregious thing is that the pictures of the property on the advert are extremely flattering. Once you enter the property, it feels like you're staying in a slum landlord's house. I apologise if this hits hard, but really, people shouldn't be paying to stay here, nor should Booking.com allow, unless for a lower a price.

Was handy to beamish where we had been main asda and lidl 2 mins away . We ate at the Shepard and Shepardess really great value for money

Nice touches leaving milk and biscuits.

It wasn't not particularly clean, the pillows are likely years old 😬 thankfully I was only out of my house for some work being done. So was able to go back and get my own pillows. Some surfaces were not wiped down. Hairs in places. Downstairs carpet in living room, needs a proper carpet clean. I stayed out of there after first night. Bed had marks on it. Owner or someone who works for them had to come fix the heating while my stuff was in the house but I wasn't which made me a bit uncomfortable but too cold to not have heat. Has asked me to leave a review for a female but I only spoke to a male? I don't like leaving bad reviews for people making a living but on the whole the place needs a deep clean and new bedding/pillows etc. Someone came to fix the roof, but owner said he had no idea who that was. The guy knew tenants stayed in the house though as asked if I was the owner or just staying atm.

Good location for what we wanted, quiet area, great views.

The location was perfect for visiting Beamish and closs to local shops. Parking was free, easy and right outside.

Would have liked a lock on the bathroom door.
