Oak Cottage

We were given a code to collect the keys from the lockbox. However when we arrived the code did open the lockbox but there was no key. The contact number shared was also not reachable which created a panic among all including the kids as it was too late. After waiting outside for around 10 mins someone from inside the house opened the door and said the key was taken by the previous visitors and so he had to clean the house again. Everything felt not so expected and spooky. The door lock also was not smooth to open. The bedsheets where not changed as we could see hair strands. Toilet issues were finished. Me and my family did not felt safe during our stay and I dint had a good sleep either.

Lovely cottage we surprised our grandchildren with an overnight stay before they are back at school never stayed in a cottage that has provided tea coffee sugar etc and washing supplies lovely touch with games and books

Clean and well equipped. Great base for exploring the Peak District

Communication with the host was very prompt upon booking and straightforward during the stay. We felt as though we would have had someone to call upon if needed and were made to feel very welcome. Our stay was due to emergency house repairs so we already know the area, but if we hadn't, there would have been easy ways to find out. The house is close to a petrol station for amenities and two local pubs nearby - great if you are visiting for leisure/social. The house was spotless and very clean throughout. It was also very warm upon entering when we first checked in - which helps in the middle of winter. We needed pet friendly, which the house is, and our dogs felt very at home from the beginning.

The house is on a fairly busy main road near traffic lights and a junction, so could sound and be a little busy at times - but this is something you either have to be OK with or not. For us, it was fine.

Oak cottage is very comfortable and homely. It was warm and welcoming. The shower was awesome, the cottage had shops close by. There was tea, coffee etc ready for us. The place was clean and tidy. We bought our 1 year old with us and oat cottage had stairgates ready to be used. We can't wait to stay again!

Parking was a little awkward. We had to park on a different road but other then that the place was perfect.
