Sogor Female Dormitory

The owner is very sweet! We took a selfie before I left :). Very responsive on WhatsApp. Everything was super clean and comfortable. Free/donation-based washer/dryer was clutch!

The pod-style beds get a little hot, even with AC in the room.

Amazing facilities—especially the free washer/dryer with room to hang and steam your clothes! Staff was quite friendly and nice too and gave great recommendations.

Was very quiet most of the day with lights off. Not a problem for me but wasn’t the most social during the time I was there. Also a bit far from the downtown as other reviews mentioned but grab taxis are readily available and very cheap in Georgetown so it was not an issue at all!

Everything is great. Staff also gave great advise about food, sightseeing and souvenir.

Amazing stay here, met some great people and my first good night's sleep in a week of hostels! CP who runs the dorm is also so lovely

- very clean and modern hostel - very big beds that are separately with walls, not bunk beds - feels very comfortable to be in only female house - very quite - easy non person check in

- it is a bit far from everything - expensive for a hostel - the contact with host was mainly via WhatsApp with is convenient but lacks a bit of hostel vibe and hospitality

I was a bit weary booking this place because the reviews seemed too good to be true but this was one of my favourite hostels in SE Asia and my favourite in Malaysia by far. I was so content and comfortable here that I extended my stay by another two nights. The free laundry, the steamer, and the changing room are all such wonderful touches for a girls dorm. CP is amazing and very accommodating, always wanting to help. All of this creates a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, which is social but not disruptive. I met lovely people and made some amazing friends. I would definitely stay here again, it’s exactly the way a hostel/dorm should be done!!

Each bed has its own quirk, if you’re sensitive to light I’d recommend requesting a bed further away from the bathroom for now (I’ve told CP about the issue with the big light and she said she’ll get on it). If you don’t like it too cold when you sleep ask for a bed that’s not directly beside the air conditioning (and vice versa). It’ll save CP having to move you if you’re not comfortable!

Location was great and the girls and staff were so sweet and helpful! It was so clean and such a safe space as a solo woman traveler.

Manager is such a gem, helping you with many things. The dorm is the cleanest I've ever stayed in. There's a dressing room full of mirrors and a laundry room!! Basically a dream. Met many really nice women during my stay (which I extended for 2 nights because it was so good)
