Gallo House

Unfortunately a bad experience. My room at the top floor (I think #2) did not look like any of the images. Furniture & linen felt old but that was ok in view of the pricing. Still, expectations were higher due to the pretty images on the listing. But what was intolerable was the smell: The whole room was totally over-scented with some artificial room spray. Not a subtle touch for a bit of freshness, but really heavily. The scent was everywhere, the bedding must have been soaked with that spray. No way to escape it if your cushions and bedlinen are covered with it, and you inhale chemicals while trying to sleep. I had to leave all windows open to get some fresh air in at night. Still I could hardly sleep, it became nauseating. I left that room in the morning with a migraine. Even more, all my belongings took on the smell, and I had it on me too. I had to wash my clothes twice after coming home, and even weeks later, my backpack & jacket still smell of that stuff. PLEASE don't do that to your guests. That night was really bad. And I wonder: what smells so bad in that room originally, that it needs to be covered up like this? Better to fix the cause of that than just spraying all over.

Loved our stay here. Beautiful old house. Rooms were comfortable. Luke was easy to communicate with. Check in and out was seemless. Absolutely loved the location. Super convenient for everything both by car and by public transport (there's a big free public parking lot 6 mins walk away).

Loved it all. I can see how the stairs might be problematic for those with mobility issues, but not a problem for us at all.

This was our second stay at Gallo House (we really loved the location and the house, so we came back!). This time there was some issue with the room not being ready in time, so the owner immediately offered to have us move to one of their other properties around the corner. It was less traditional in decor (very modern), but an equally great stay. Thanks Luke!
