Clare House

I was visiting friends in the area and the location was ideally close to them. I took one of the rooms (there were several in a row). The bed was comfortable and big enough to fit two persons, and the room was spacious, which also had a couch. The bathroom had a closed-in shower with door, with very good water pressure and very spacious shower cabin. There were amenities to use, kettle, coffee, tea and a TV (I did not use it). The lady that attended my phone call for the check-in was very polite and helpful because I arrived late at night (after 10 pm).

The sink in the bathroom had two different faucets for hot and cold water, but this is common in the UK. Sometimes I could hear the people in the adjacent room in the morning as they got up.

Spooky, un-nerving experience. External large house and grounds in need of some maintenance. Looked abandoned, thought I had been scammed. Arrived to find this is a totally unstaffed house. No other residents staying, I couldn't gain entrance, contact phone number didn't work, a neighbour helped me contact the Crown Hotel, who told me I should have called for the keys to gain access to the house. No booking.com instructions to do this! The Crown was unaware of my booking. They drove the mile + down the road to let me in. 3 other bedrooms left with doors open and beds left unmade, not a good impression. Definitely would not stay again or recommend it.
