Garden Flat

This is a great little apartment in a lovely part of Edinburgh. Nice yard to enjoy if the weather permits. The neighborhood is very walkable & the bus stop is just across the street. The street itself has some great spots for groceries and cute little shops for coffee/tea and such - very convenient. Janeanne is super helpful, informative and friendly! My friend & I loved staying here. Bonus gluten free tip - The Safari Lounge (10 minute walk) has the best GF DF fish n' chips I encountered during my entire 3 week stay in Scotland. Go there! Staff is lovely.

It was clean and tidy and nicely presented. I was met by the host who explained how the heating system worked which was a bonus for a person not used to it. Bus stop across road to take you into town if you don’t want to walk

No TV was unusual, and the bed against the wall restricted access for the other half

Comfy and cosy

The current bed layout for couples is very disruptive as the bed does not have access to one side. It needs access from both sides. Very difficult and disruptive to other person in bed. Can be solved i think by swapping rooms by placing bed where couch is instead.Make the bedroom a sitting/table room. Or if possible put a sliding door on the bedroom instead? Just a couple of suggestions otherwise the flat was great!

The flat was cozy and contained all that we needed. There was ample storage space and it was great to have the access to the garden (even if the weather was too cold to actually use it!). The block that the flat is in was quiet. The shower was great, fantastic water pressure and temperature. The location was perfect. Close to many bus routes and the beach in Leith was one short bus ride away. It was possible to walk to Holyrood Park and Calton Hill and easy to get into the center of Edinburgh by bus. In the immediate vicinity there were two franchise bakeries and one co-op. There were also a number of coffee shops (two which also sold breads and pastries), one plant-based foods supermarket, and a number of restaurants. It was a pleasure dealing with Janeanne and her partner.

The WiFi connection was a bit temperamental depending on where you were in the flat, but it did work.

Lovely little flat within walking distance of the city. Shops including a supermarket, takeaway, Greggs and off license right outside. Bus stop very close by. Fab shower, comfortable bed and cosy living room. Extras provided like tea, coffee etc were appreciated. Janeanne was lovely.

We couldn't get the oven to work as there weren't any markings on the controls. Only being able to get in one side of the bed wasn't ideal but we knew that when we booked. Could have done with a mirror above the sink. All minor things.

Janeanne is such a lovely host. The communication leading up to and during the stay was uncomplicated, and she was always there to help - way beyond any usual "host duties"! When, in the last days of our stay, our flight got pushed to a very late departure time and on top of it I got sick and was not up to running around town with all our luggage, she did everything to help us find a solution. We were able to stay longer in the flat, and she also gave us useful advice on where you can find a quiet place around the airport and so on. The flat itself is cosy, roomy and has a lot of storage space, which we appreciated very much since we had a lot of luggage (road trip beforehand) and were staying for a whole week. It was nice that the rooms are separate, and you can close the door on any one of them. So, if you, for example, want to sleep in, but your partner is an early bird, this is totally possible in this space. What I LOVED about the flat was that we were able to have breakfast or afternoon tea in the garden. That was special. Regarding the location, you could easily walk from the city centre to the flat in about 30 minutes, which was really nice for us, since we like to walk a lot on city trips. Edinburgh is perfect for that. Nonetheless, going into the city we more often took the bus since it's a lot quicker, and we wanted to avoid the uphill walk. There are several lines stopping near the flat, so it was really convenient. The tram is about a 10 min. walk away, but usually the buses were the better choice for us. There are also a lot of grocery stores, fabulous bakeries and even a little vegan shop nearby. This was perfect for us, since we usually had breakfast and dinner in the flat. All in all, I can wholeheartedly recommend staying at Janeanne's place. We had a great time!

The only thing that we were not used to was the size of the bed. It is a bit of a squeeze when you are used to a king-size, but that was our experience in the other places we stayed at during our trip, too. So, if you need your space during sleep, that is something to look out for at any accommodation, I guess.

The flat was super cosy and the location very convenient. We were able to stroll to the old town, the new town and Leith by foot. Supermarket right across the street, bakery as well and the little garden is a nice touch.
