Tembo Baharini Beach Cottage

The apartment complex is very nice, the pool area is lovely. The beach is very close, sandy, with shallow water. In the nearby luxury hotel there is a restaurant so we could have breakfast or dinner there. The rooms were nice, however kitchen cleanliness should be improved. Overall we had a nice stay.

We have arrived in the evening, and we were struggling to find the exact location. Also at least 0.5 L / person would be a nice addition, like in most apartments in Kenya, even if balloon water or breakfast is included. One bathroom's door was broken, door could not be closed at all. Corridor and staircase lighting was off completely, so we had to drag up all of our heavy suitcases and stuff in complete dark and find our front door. The kitchen appliances were VERY dirty, could not be used. Toaster was full of dirt and fat. Water boiler had limescale all over.

I was in Malindi with my family and we needed a place a stay. I came across this property and saw the recent bad review and at first I was completely turned off by it but something told me to give it a try and book it. Once I got there I couldn't believe how I was so impressed and that everything exceeded my expectations. Let me just say whomever wrote this last bad review either made an error in judgement or walked into someone else's house by mistake. The house was immaculate and well decorated. From the bedrooms to the kitchen and bathrooms. The house looked exactly like the pictures on the booking website. The a/c blew cold. My wife and I I are not really understanding from the last bad review about rusty pots and pans because everything was clean and perfect. And as for rats or whatever small animals this person was talking about made no absolute sense. I went through all the reviews and there is no mention of any of this in any of the reviews and I did not see such things myself. From what I read from the last bad review I think it is possible that the person meant to write about another property and was totally confused.The pool was nice as the staff properly maintained its treatment. The area is very beautiful. The owner herself is very hospitable. I plan to come back with my family and really was impressed. My wife and kids and mother in law plan to come back and thank Linda for all of her hospitality.

My family and I loved everything.

The surrounding looked nice Staff was friendly. Owner was also nice and was ready to refund our money without any issues because there was no electricity or water when we arrived and we were thinking of leaving the property to find another. The electricity issue wasn’t their fault though it was KPLC so no complains on that.

Level of cleanliness was so bad. The second bathroom was very stinky. Floors and beddings were dirty. There was some kind of small animal, I’m assuming it was a rat that kept eating our food at night Utensils were dirty and some pots and pans were kinda rusted, we had to buy our own which was such a bummer. Fan on the second bedroom was also not working and you know how hot Malindi is. We were very uncomfortable especially at night. There were all kinds of bugs, from giant mosquitoes to lizards and geckos inside the apartment we stayed in.. The property was nothing like what was advertised. Didn’t really feel the value of our money. The pool was closed for maintenance the whole time we were there too.
