Souvenir salesman enter the property to aggressively sell their goods. Staff does not seem to see this as a problem.
ZAThe staff and food at Mgoza Lodge stand out as well as the leafy, lakeside setting. The friendly, attentive and efficient team looked after us morning, noon and night and were helpful with local knowledge. The quality, variety and generous portions of meals on offer were a pleasant surprise and ranged from beef in a red wine jus, chicken tagine, Chinese stir‐fry, to fish cakes and a vanilla panacotta with banana in balsamic. Breakfasts were equally varied and the large plunger pot of coffee packed a punch. Our double room had a massive king size bed with adequate mattress and good (cold) water pressure. The swimming pool was clear and refreshing. The vibe is halfway between lodge and backpackers.
Everything was functional, but the property could use a little sprucing up.

AUBad things: Basically no wifi. Power is on for an hour or two then off for an hour or two. They have a generator but was only on for a small period time. Almost no hot water. You will get harassed by the local curio sellers/donations seekers even on the hotel grounds. Very annoying if you just want to relax. Good things: The staff was friendly and the food was great.
