Fionn House Darlington

Situated in a quiet cul de sac. Had everything we needed for our stay.

Pleasant hosts, answering messages quickly. Very safe and quiet location on a cul-de-sac. Extra kitchenette upstairs. Host kindly provided cotton sheets upon request. Imaginative decor of rooms, each with a theme. Full-size fridge.

Heat cannot be easily set by guests; one has to contact the host and request heat set at certain hours. This is quite inconvenient. Apparently there is a way the guest can set the heat, but it's a very complicated system, using a digital device, which not even my clever software engineer husband could figure out. No instructions are provided for this or for anything else in the house, including Wi-Fi. A guest handbook is needed. The night before, we requested our heat to be turned on by 8 am. but it was not, so we woke up to a cold house. This seemed inconsiderate, especially since we could not set it ourselves and had to request it be turned on, which then took awhile to warm up. Kitchen was the most cramped I've ever seen; impossible for 2 people to be in it at once. Dismal lighting throughout the house: too dim, no reading light in living room, and a broken bulb in one light. Very heavy upstairs doors, which need all one's strength to open. Annoying sensor light in hall which can't be turned off, meaning unwanted, full bright light upon night trips to the toilet. Creaking, uneven floors. Rather uncomfortable bed in main bedroom; springs could be clearly felt. Loose kitchen tap, dripping bath tap which cannot be turned off. Upper main bedroom has condensation between window panes. Poor value for the many problems with this unit; not worth the price we paid. We paid the exact same amount for another house the next night which had almost no problems.

Location brilliant. Bus at the top of the road. Shops, pub, takeaway, restaurants in walking distance. House very clean, everything we needed.

Just that the bathroom tap was dripping and couldn't turn it off.

It had everything we needed and was easy to find. It was very clean, comfortable and well equipped.

Location and set up perfect for a group friends to enjoy Croft weekend.

Not a didn't like. But we were Unable to empty the kitchen bin due to outside bins filled to the brim.
