Very spacious lounge/kitchen diner. Comfy sofas. Farm manager lives next door and was extremely friendly and very helpful with advice on the best places to eat. Nice little enclosed garden for the dog and sitting out. Superb views. Really well located for walks

Couldn’t fault it

Lovely location, very picturesque. Comfortable bedrooms and nice open plan living space.

We had an issue with the shower leaking, they weren’t able to fix this whilst we were there so we did leave a day earlier than planned as it wasn’t suitable to share one bathroom that only had a bath with shower head attached.

The property had everything we needed and all the information was there to help our stay. Having fresh flowers, milk and shortbread was thoughtful and much appreciated. We also were given direct contact details to discuss the stay which was very useful as there was an issue we needed to discuss. The response we received was kind and thoughtful.

The only problems we had were trying to contact Booking.com. There was nothing wrong with the property. Booking.com only had an automated system for discussing our problem, which meant we could not resolve it satisfactorily.

We had a great stay at Raikes Barn. The house has everything you need and we found it clean & comfortable. Although the property is on a fairly busy country road it did not disturb us at all.... the rooms face the back garden with it's spectacular views. A 15min walk takes you to the lovely village of Hartington. Highly recommend.

Spotlessly clean. Roll-top bath great for a good soak. Plenty of space. Easy parking. Quiet location. Other reviews commented on the home backing onto the main road. We didn't find this a problem - the road wasn't that busy. Would be happy to stay here again.

Nothing major - just a couple of niggles that don't impact on the score. What's with the additional "lease agreement" that had to signed after making and paying for the booking? - It reads like something ChatGPT would spit out. Agreeing to pay "attorney's fees" ? Seriously? Having already specified the arrival time on booking.com, the arrival time has to be specified again via their portal. Tried to type in 5pm didn't work - finally figured out that I needed type "05" - what a faff. The whole reason behind using booking.com is how streamlined the whole booking process is. The portal is a great example of how not to do things, Also booking.com states "No Pets Allowed" - so we didn't bring our dog. The portal subsequently offers an upgrade for pets and a sign in the property states "Please do not allow dogs upstairs". This needs clarifying on the website.

Beautiful location and very well equipped cottage with lots of space and high quality utilities. Hartington is only a 12 min walk away. Perfect for families/ walkers, would definitely come back

Only negative would be the walk into Hartington is along a country road without a pavement so high-vis clothing or a torch is a must. Road is not very busy though.
