The Retreat

The property was immaculately clean, really lovely decor and we instantly felt at home. There was everything we could have expected plus so much. Would be perfect for a long weekend stay. We were only there for a wedding. Lovely little breakfast hamper but if I’m being picky - it was all ultra processed foods. Maybe Wholemeal bread, porridge oats/porridge pots and some fruit or something similar. And plain yoghurt rather than artificially sweetened. But that’s just to preference. The shower was brilliant and the kitchen facilities outstanding.

The check in was later than we’d have liked, and the same with check out - quite early. 11am would work better. The bed was a little hard, but it was fine.

Quiet, good location, ultra clean, modern finish, comfortable. Spacious, good for a couple. We came with our dog and it was easy to walk him in nearby fields, nice stream not far away.

It's not separate from the main house, so even though it is self contained, it's more Airbnb than Booking accomodation. I think it would be good if that would be mentioned in the description beforehand. Heating is connected with the main house, we were cold and asked where to up it a degree, needed to ask the owners to change that, and they weren't happy about it but changed it. We wanted a secluded space the name - Retreat suggested that... It is not a place for a technophob, no cooker but ninja, gadget style kettle with milion buttons, while all we need is boiled water... What was annoying, there's not a single hook for coats, or storage for shoes as you enter. Scrambled eggs in ninja weren't easy, especially if you need to check out quickly... You would not cook a roast if you are staying for longer or bake anything - no oven. In general - it looks comfortable, but there are things that are just really impractical, like no space to put a suitcase, lack of hook or a cooker, or a heating button, or a freezer to put ice cream or ice in, you can't even boil anything...

....lots ofivy little touches. Wine tea coffee biscuits milk water toiletries etc etc .... fantastic facilities and electrical goods. Huge TV!! Have thought of everything!! SHARP FAN WAS AN ABSOLUTE BONUS!!!! THANK YOU. Would stay again and highly recommend !!!!

Voiles at patio doors for privacy. Would have liked a little bit more time to check out .. 11am? Been to a wedding so late to bed. Would have liked not to have such an early start to our day. Little confused about mentions of breakfast in other reviews? Maybe we missed that but definitely not a complaint!

Facilities were brilliant, lots of space very relaxing stay. Good location.

The property was easy to find with the instructions and photos that were given when I booked. The Retreat had everything you would need , a lovely basket of breakfast things was supplied , also make sure you read the information pack supplied as soon as much thought has been put into it . The bed was super clean and comfortable. The shower was powerful too . All in all a lovely place to base yourself when going on day trips .

The only thing I would say is maybe having a privacy curtain on the main doors , but apart from that all lovely .

Lovely quiet location close to the motorway. Spacious and comfortable annexe. Very good nights sleep.
