root hakone Bar & Guesthouse

Very clean and beautiful interior. The beds in the "dorm" are separated by wood plates, so that you can stand inside and have a lot of privacy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The "kitchen" equipment is a bit scarce (microwave, water boiler), but still a very good and cheap hostel for the location in Hakone. Would definitely recommend the hike to mount kintoki which you can start directly from the hostel.

Clean and quiet guesthouse. They also had a nice bar. Staff was very helpful too.

The bar is fantastic and the owner Yudai is a fantastic host. He speaks fluent English, is very hospitable and welcoming. Ryo the other staff member is also an amazing host. Sometimes you can catch both of them in the bar and have many great chats with top-notch spirits to sip on

Ideal for hiking locations and next to Sengoku Bus stop on the Hakone Free pass. Just an 35 minutes away from Gotemba Outlets. Showers are modern, clean and comfortable.

Needs some upgrades like more USB chargers and coat/clothes hangers in the room. Place is ideal only for short stays. Could provide better/larger towels at no extra cost.
