Station view apartment

Great location and comfortable beds.

Unfortunately smelt very much like cigarettes. Chain lock on door was broken. Lots of stairs up to the property.

The apartment was beautiful and clean and in a good location. The beds were comfy and the facilities met our needs

The cleaners let themselves in at 10.30 am and told us we were supposed to be out by 10. I was sure it was 11am and we were just finishing cooking some food. We were rushed to pack our belongings while the man and woman stood in the main corridor of the apartment rather than allowing us some privacy to get packed away. This was intimidating, and we had to throw away the food as it wasn't fully cooked. It wasn't until after that I double-checked and realised that the check out time was 11 am. I reported it to the owner of the apartment who said sorry in a very short message but offered nothing in terms of compensating us for the food/time we had lost. It wasn't a cheap apartment, and I personally wouldn't recommend it due to the lack of customer service/empathy for the time/food we had lost.

The apartment reeked of cigarettes. The smell was so intense that we could not stay the night and had to leave after 10minutes of being there. I have asthma and the smell was too much to handle, so had to leave and pay for accommodation elsewhere. The owner ignored my request for a refund and said the apartment was non-smoking. Fair enough not to grant a refund on the night, but a bit unfair advertising the place as non-smoking when the place is imbedded with cigarette stench. Disgusting. There is quite a distance from car park to apartment and you have to navigate a couple of gates/doors that have to be locked as you enter the grounds. You also have to take two steep stairs to get into apartment. The communal area to get to the apartment smells and has a lot of stuff laying about. I wouldn’t recommend if you have issue with climbing steep, narrow stairs, and if you have a lot of luggage. The place appeared clean and tidy and was in a good location.

The living room was nice to all spend time in, the TV worked well and had access to Netflix, Disney+ etc, if you had your own log ins. The bathroom was clean. The location was very good, just a 15 minute walk into the city centre.

Accessing the property isn’t simple, you have to go through a series of gates and doors and locking them all behind you with several different keys, lots of steps so if someone struggles with this then this would not be ideal. Parking is limited, so if you have more than one car, you will need to find space elsewhere. We were very disappointed by the strong smell of cigarette smoke throughout the property, we believed this to be coming from the flat below, but as this said it was a non-smoking property, the smell was not pleasant. Opening the windows and using air freshener did not help either. Though the property looked tidy, it was not cleaned well, the bedsheets were filthy and covered in hair, which was quite disgusting. After ringing the owner, she was very apologetic and sent the cleaner straight away. However when the cleaner turned up she was rude and only changed the bottom sheet of the bedding not the duvet and pillows. As well as this, it was very noisy, with noise from the flat below and also the railway and main road. We will not be staying here again.
