Dinner and breakfast were delicious. The staff were all absolutely fabulous. Professional, charming, friendly. My Mum loved all the facts about the Beatles staying, and the Last Tango in Halifax being filmed there. The garden is gorgeous too. We had a really happy stay.

"fabulaous hotel"

breakfast was great Home-made marmalades and jams were superb the hash brown was handmade and the most delicious I have ever tasted -do go for the full English lots of places to sit and relax lovely bar lovely knot garden room beautifully decorated very friendly staff on reception

staff in the restaurant were a bit brusque

"Beautiful place, overpriced, nothing remarkable."

The hotel and gardens were full of character a beautiful place to stay.

The evening meal was poor. Poor presentation. Gristly steak. We were not asked how our food was or given steak knives. We ate our meal in the long bar due to having our pup with us. The bar was freezing, the table was too low to eat comfortably. The £35 bottle of wine was £8.75 in the supermarket, totally unreasonable. Advertised as an award winning dog friendly hotel not one member of staff acknowledged our dog.

"Lovely relaxing stay with exceptional dining"

Old charm. Original features. Famous history. Beautiful setting. Convenient to other places

We found the bed and pillows to be un comfy. The walkways around the rooms were dated and blinds in the room would have been better alongside curtains. The carpet didn’t meet the edges! But our dining experience was exceptional
