Downs Hotel

Lovely bedroom . Well equipped and comfy

Downs Hotel is located on a very nice site with beautiful views of the South Downs. It is just a short drive from Brighton and The University of Sussex where we had an event. The staff were very friendly and it was really handy that the hotel has a restaurant on site. The food was good and there was a wide selection of options on the menu. Our beds were really comfortable. We're non-drinkers but there is a pub with a friendly atmosphere for those who like a tipple.

Some wear and tear (e.g. old and tired looking windows/window frames). No shampoo in shower. Tea stains on some of the crockery at breakfast. No biscuits in room even though it said they are provided in the guest book.

Location to Brighton was excellent with free parking which makes a real difference! Bar staff were efficient and friendly.

Room was quite dusty and not as thoroughly clean as I was hoping. Bed was very soft a little uncomfortable.

Only a tiny comment - Breakfast commenced too late for a business trip but understand why it’s a 7.30 start and not earlier.

Wir hatten ein ganz tolles, neu renoviertes Zimmer ( 6 ) mit einer wunderschönen Aussicht bis zum Meer und allen Annehmlichkeiten die man sich nur vorstellen kann. Das Bad mit Dusche und Badewanne ist ein Traum. Die Betten sind perfekt. Das Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet und auch unser Abendessen war köstlich. Es gibt einen traumhaft schönen Wanderweg entlang von Wiesen und Feldern bis ans Meer und die Marina von Brighton. Bis zum Pier läuft man ungefähr 2 Stunden. Wer nicht laufen möchte, die Buslinien 2 und 22 fahren direkt am Hotel ab.

Nette Unterkunft allerdings direkt an einer Ausfallstrasse. Die Treppe zu den Zimmern ist sehr steil und hat kleine Stufen
