"Excellent host but bedrooms need renovation"

Unni was a wonderful host with detailed knowledge of the region and its communities. Talks with her greaty enriched my stay. She also prepared a very nice fish dinner and cooked breakfast. The location is good for trips to all parts of Varanger. The lounge area was nice and comfy.

The bedrooms were disappointing. The building used to be a nursing home and still has that vibe: a hospital-like corridor leads to not much nicer rooms. Unni is aware of this and would like to renovate, so hopefully it will be better in the future. The "sea view" is of a corner of the fjord dominated by a large (and audible) open-pit mine: not the cosy coastal haven I was hoping for and I decided to leave earlier than planned.
