Gilchristland Organic Farm Retreat

Our second stay was another peaceful quiet few days away . We had a lovely breakfast basket with freshly cookes buns and homemade jam. Nice warm cosy and big bath .

It is a bit black and white this survey and life is not that way. The location and facilities were great, peaceful and wow interior, but lacked a few essentials, that's all. Cutlery, wardrobe and a finished kitchenette. Perhaps a tidy around the main entrance, but that is being picky. We don't nit pick usually, but I can see that some might. It is a lovely place with great potential to be even better with a few little touches. The location for us was good as we were meeting family and friends in Closeburn and Thornhill. We appreciated the personal touch of messages from the owners, thank you. Sorry we didnt meet. We would recommend this place for a couple who want an escape!

De locatie en de sfeer van de B&B. Ondanks dat er geen warme maaltijd geserveerd wordt heeft mevrouw toch voor ons een warme maaltijd gemaakt. Dat was super tof!

Het gebouw/villa was best gedateerd en was wat slordig onderhouden. Maar de kamer was prima in orde.

Me and the missus went here for new year its very nice and cosy . The annex is very unique it has alot of antique retro furniture a four poster bed which was comfy a nice big very comfy couch which i kept falling asleep on , a tv with smart box ,, a piano for the musicians , table and chairs . The main room is alot bigger than i thought it was going to be photos make it look smaller. We also had a real christmas tree in the room with lights on it. Lots of real house plants around. Two big glass doors which open up into the large garden . The annex is lovely and warm it was minus temperatures when we stayed i had too turn it down as i was too warm . The Bathroom has a nice big deep bath and hot water Kitchen the sink isnt finished but has fridge , hobs , oven , microwave and essentials. The sky light is big so wear eye masks if light bothers you sleeping or close the curtains which are attached to the bed . Its accommodation on a working farm which has sheep , chickens , cows the outer building is currently getting worked on so it looks rough and they are doing it themselves inbetween working the farm. The annex isnt the hilton if you want that go there if you want peace and quiet and the countryside view book the annex we loved it.

The fireplace cant be used hopefully they can add a wood burner in the future for that romantic atmosphere.

I did not stay here because of the unwelcome reception from John and the non existent host Eleanor!

It was not heated and had a musty smell inside as well as not being modernised to a decent standard; misleading advert to start with plus zero calls so far from the owners as they could not be bothered to pick up the phone to this day; I complained to Booking.com who are duty bound to investigate and get me a full refund!

Stunning views, very peaceful, comfortable bed, cosy room, lovely & warm . Excellent value for money. Lovely area to explore. Thank you Eleanor for letting us check in earlier than planned.

No running water in the kitchen & once kitchen is fully completed the whole place will be fantastic.
