Room was unclean with someone else’s hair in the bed, stains on all the bedding, mould on the walls, no toilet paper, staff were not friendly or helpful.

There was nothing we liked about this place, unfortunately.

The room had a damp, almost mouldy smell. There was no toilet paper and we didn't receive any despite asking for some, and had to ask again the next day. The walls had mouldy looking patches. I didn't feel certain the linen had been changed. And there was no hot water at all! Access for our van was also incredibly hard.

After the confirmation they sent me a simple message (I consider myself lucky as I checked my emails, otherwise I would have had no booking by the evening with a baby spending a chilling night in a vehicle) asking me to cancel as they are fully booked. they listed their property as non refundable and if I cancel I have to pay in full amount for the first night. I had to call and write to booking.com customer service and go through a troublesome process to cancel the booking without a charge while it wasn't my fault that I had to cancel it by myself. Worst part is they never answered their listed number, neither my calls nor booking.com customer service attempts to contact the property. Thank you booking.com team for getting me out of the trouble. Ps: I later on learnt that they were accepting walk-in customers at a 3X price since it was a long weekend and Nuwara Eliya ran out of available stay options. So I believe this is or this will be a common practice to fish more walk-in customers at exorbitant prices. this was the first for me on booking.com.
