Chans Lakeside Hideaway

Very clean, comfortable, cozy. Bedrooms were very comfortable and relaxing. The location was great, all around beautiful place. ☺️

Only thing that was not as stated in the rule book, was the sitting area by swing. My friend is a smoker, and the seating area and swing was not attended to, swing was gone and area not fixed up to sit at. But we made it work and all was good. 👍🏼

Everything. The quiet area, the decor, the shower heads, the snacks to name a few things. One of the best places I have stayed in. The coziness of the place was vert welcoming. I will be back. This was a mommy & daughter weekend. We had a great time and close enough drive to the city but far enough to enjoy the peace of it.

Easy check in, communicative host, smelled nice, relatively cozy spot, some nice modern features in the home.

The reviews are what really sold me on booking this place. "Looks just like pictures, very clean, relaxing, very hospitable owners" etc... Unfortunately, it seemed like they no longer maintain the proper to the standard that they used to. For starters, the outside was one of the main attractions for us. It looks so charming in the photos. Upon arrival, everything was overgrown, dying, plant pots tipped over everywhere, a run-down fountain, a once quaint sitting area, with a swing that was cut off and chairs tipped over. I get that it's winter, but this wasn't an intentionally wintered over property... it was a picture of long term neglect. Bummer. Photos made it look so romantic and magical (mind you I booked this for our valentines weekend), and it just wasn't that. I try to never be too quick to judge because people might have things happen in their lives that cause a decline... but a guest still deserves to anticipate what they see in photos. Or at least be made aware otherwise. As for the inside, I gave points for it smelling and appearing *mostly clean. However, there were things that were a turn off. Dingy bar chairs with stains all along them, a kitchen sink that only ran cold and wouldn't get hot, dish soap but nothing to clean with, a dishwasher that REEKED like burning plastic after running a cycle, dirty dishware in cupboards, no trash bags, a clogged sink in the upstairs bathroom where the bedrooms are (so we had to brush our teeth etc. in the main floor bathroom). Stumbled upon an old phone case behind one of the couch pillows, so that makes me question thoroughness in cleaning. I let the owner know about the clogged sink before we left, and she thanked me for letting her know, but no apology extended. I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately just did not experience the excellent hospitality that others apparently did in the past, or the "picturesque" views.
