Seems run down and old, need some refurnishing, not very clean in the room; poor soundproofing

It is a true gateway to the Himalayas. We stayed here twice, once on the way up, and once on the way down from the Himalayas. Pros: 1. Amazing views in the morning towards the mountains. 2. The restaurant is also really good for Nepalese standards. 3. Last reliable and good place before entering the mountains. 4. Decent rooms for Nepal.

Cons: 1. We were shown the rooms and told 6000 total for 2 rooms. Booking.com was showing 4700 total. I mentioned this to the reception staff who started to say this is for one room only. So I booked the stay over booking.com. Then a phonecall with owner happened, not the most civilised exchange to be honest. The owner told us over the phone the 4700 price was wrong and demanded we cancel our booking and pay 6000 cash, which I rejected, and negotiated otherwise. We stayed paying the booking.com price (after a lengthy negotiation and very impolite and dishonest behaviour from the owner). Overall, the behaviour shown by the staff and owner handling the situation was pretty poor during this check-in experience, treating us like we're stupid. 2. The room quality is good for Nepal, but certainly not a "resort" in a western sense. It is a cheap US motel quality at best. So bear this in mind when booking.
