Hvammsvík Nature Resort

It was heaven on earth. Beautiful new Artist lodge , hiking the fjord area, public hot spring & bistro …and private hot spring.

Either soaking session just for accommodation guests or quiet hours in the morning—Not the fault of the resort in any way...but shrieking & and loud talking groups visiting the hot springs can ruin the meditative vibe of the hot springs… Our stay was perfect in every way--highly recommend all to stay a night or two--you will not regret it!

Location is amazing, room was great. View was lovely. Private geothermal pool was incredible!!!

We found a broken glass. No microwave was silly. Feels like the resort is really is trying to force you to utilize their restaurant and hotsprings when the hotsprings at a minimum should be included in the rate of the room.

L'emplacement est magnifique, les villas sont modernes et très bien meublées. Le manque de micro-onde ou cuisinière est bizarre dans un tel lieu, qui se veut luxueux. Les hot springs sont top, le personnel y est parfait.

L'absence totale de contact humain, le manque de rideau sur la porte d'entrée, la très mauvaise signalétique du hot pot soi disant privatif.

We absolutely loved our stay. It was so hard to leave this special place. We stayed in an artist lodge (one of the smaller cabins). The kitchenette was perfect for preparing dinner and breakfast. We loved the espresso machine (with so many pods!), candle, and coffee table book. The bed, shower and facilities are comfortable and luxurious. We will be coming back again and again. As a guest, you have access to a semi-private hot springs pool. This is a smaller pool located 15-20 minute walk away from the accommodations. You can also drive up to it, which was probably better than us walking to/from in our robes. The pool was a comfortably warm 98-100 degrees when we used it in the evening, but apparently can be hotter during the day. It's adjacent to the ocean so you can do a hot soak than cold plunge. I am not sure if the pool is accessible during high tide. It's open 24/7. It comfortably fit about 6 adults at one time.

While we knew that access to the Hvammsvík main pool area wasn't included in the overnight costs, it really ought to be. We were happy with our stay but for the price, guests should have access to the main pools, too. We would not have had the same experience if we just used the semi-private pool. Until that policy changes, we recommend getting the day pass, arriving sometime around 1 PM, and soaking until your room is ready. Taking a dip in the Atlantic is a must!

While the breakfast was generous, we are unaccustomed to having ham, cheese and bread for breakfast. The yogurt was great and the sourdough bread was delicious as a mid-day snack. The lack of the kind of breakfast we prefer was made up for by the sheer beauty of the area and the coziness of the Artists Cabin. Beautiful views out the large windows. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and neat. It is a wonderful place to stay on a trip to Iceland.

If the Artist Cabins had microwave ovens. We would have brought food from a market and prepared our own dinner. However, it was nice to have glasses, silverware and plates to use for the food we obtained from the Bistro.
