Super location with amazing view, very welcoming and helpful staff

Amazing view over sea and beach. Great place to relax and feel calm in this beautifull island. There is also a nice bar with food and drinks. George and Tomas made our stay wonderful.

A historical site, as the name recites, this was a place of political exile during the early 20th century. The owner respected its history today these are the results of his hard work! Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable and all was clean! The great view and the calm of the surroundings, the proximity to the beach (you can access directly from the suites taking a path) and the available parking at the property is a plus! Moreover the bar and restaurant just next to the rooms run by the same owner provides breakfast and lunch/dinner with the same stunning views.

There was sometimes a slight sewer smell in the toilet coming from the drain, but nothing too off putting especially when you know that this is Gavdos and for what you receive you know that there was a huge effort made with all the available means.

So good… I extended my stay! I originally booked Exoristoi from the 7th to the 21st — but the pull of Gavdos (and this place) was too strong. I ended up arriving early and booking an additional stay from the 1st to the 7th as well. Best decision I made all month. The peace and simplicity of Exoristoi is exactly what Gavdos is all about. The rooms are comfortable, well thought out, and feel perfectly in tune with the island’s wild beauty. You sleep better, breathe easier, and suddenly remember what real rest feels like. George is an exceptional host — discreet, generous, and deeply in tune with his guests and the land. You feel cared for without ever being crowded. It’s rare to find that balance. After nearly three weeks here, I left feeling grounded, sun-kissed, and already planning my return. If you’re lucky enough to find availability — take it. And maybe book a few extra days… you’ll thank yourself later.

Peaceful location at the far end of Sarakiniko—ideal for solitude and nature lovers. The room was spotless, Wi-Fi worked well, and the owner and staff were kind and welcoming. A perfect off-grid stay if you’re looking to disconnect. Just a tip for future guests: make sure to bring what you need, especially early in the season. Gavdos is remote—and that’s part of its charm. I should’ve prepared better! It might be nice if each hut had a small alfresco setup outside—maybe a table or surface to prep a coffee or light snack. Nothing fancy, just something to add a bit of independence while keeping the relaxed, rustic vibe.

Everything was fine

You wake up with the sound of waves lapping at sand, step out onto your balcony to sweeping panoramic views of the bay, beach, dunes and fishing village, stroll past the cafe at reception for a coffee or breakfast snack on your way down to a golden sandy beach. Super friendly and helpful staff. Management speaks perfect English.

The View. Single beds were comfortable. Basic breakfast available at accommodation was good.

Lack of facilities. No drinking water provided (one was provided as a welcome drink on arrival but we were then charged 2 euros per glass for it). Very small shower area that wet all of bathroom. No kettle to make a drink in the room or available in common area. Lack of information about what was available - local mini market we found was closed on the Sunday, so couldn’t access fruit. Only taverna was at end of beach - that we found ourselves. No communication about being collected from boat on arrival, so made our own way there on a bus when the owner was in fact waiting.

Beautiful location and view. No noise from generators - something that’s a problem in other parts of the island. Fall asleep to the sound of the sea. Kind host gave us a lift from Chania to the ferry at Sougia.

Simple room, nothing really to complain about. Bathroom could be a bit bigger.
