"Damp, mouldy and cold. We cancelled our stay on first night for our health"

The location and staff were good

Unfortunately our room was covered in hazardous black mould so we didn’t stay one night and left after a few hours. The room was dark, cold and wet, and my wife couldn’t breathe properly in the room so due to her anxiety we checked out and moved to a boutique hotel around the corner which was clean and nice. I hope we will get a refund for the £117 for the room as it simply wasn’t fit for purpose. It would be easy for the hotel manager to fix, just use some bleach and white paint but the lack of care was evident.

Location

Towels were not dry & didn’t seem very clean. No hooks in the bathroom to hang up clothes. No hangers in the room.

The size of the room, the location of the hotel close to main square and little shops all within walking distance

The carpet in the room was quite torn up in one part of the room. The room was quite cold and when I asked for a heater I was charged per night for the use of the heater. The breakfast was pretty average, barely any crockery for the amount of people dining. I had been emailing the hotel to change my booking as I was arriving a day after the initial booking, the assures me that there will be a room ready I just had to update my booking online (which I did) upon check in the booking hadn't been amended and I was still charged for the 3 nights instead of 2. The hot water wouldn't work some times so had to have cold showers
