Amboseli Discovery Camp

The views were great, running water and power. It was very clean and safe.

Would like to see a fan in the tent. There was very little bread at breakfast and the coffee was only instant. Don’t take the bush dinner - it is not worth the extra cash. My friend’s dream: to have a pool here.

Very good location we got the car from Masai and we were in the Park practically, so we saw cittas family on the road to Lodge, we were the only car who saw this privillaged imagine of cittas. Very Nice and tasty food.

Superb experience in a unique place! Impressive to live amongst the animals, waking up with a view of zebras and elephants and a view of Kilimanjaro! Thank you Tom for this wonderful safari adventure (elephants, lions, cheetahs), and the rest of the team (especially John) for taking care of us throughout our stay!

the roads to get to the place are not well signalized

The people working there were amazing and so helpful/nice. The tent was really clean and loved the little patio in front which gets a really good breeze. You are amongst wildlife. Had some zebras come by the wateringhole during lunch- can only imagine how many animals come by during hot season! This is owned by masaai and all the activities from game drive to nature walk are all with masaai and money goes straight to the community. Real authentic feel to it. Loved the bushdinner they organised for the last evening under the stars- was very romantic and special (so many stars!!). Also our masaai game driver clearly was really experienced and knew other drivers who frequent the park which meant we not only got the call when cheetas showed up but also ventured all around the pretty desolate areas hunting for lions, finding water buffalos, a warthog and a hyena! Also spot giraffes, zebras and baboons on route to and from the lodge as well as on the nature hike!

To be expected in hindsight, but if you are not great with bugs or lizards, you may struggle a bit at night as I did. The staff did what they could but ultimately you are in nature so this is part of the deal. To be fair, tents are kept quite well insulated and it is a campsite. If you want to be amongst wildlife, with zebras, elephants, giraffes etc swinging by, you will need to accept the other parts of nature as well :). (Only saw one lizard once in bathroom during our three nights and if you keep your tent zipped up properly, there will be very limited bugs in room - only flying bugs btw, none in bed or anything)

Amboseli Discovery is simply incredible. The views of Kilimanjaro are breathtaking and you really have the feeling of being deep in nature. The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive and helped us to organise our safari trip and other activities. The accommodation is comfortable, clean and with toilet and shower facilities - one of the best camping experiences I have had. We enjoyed incredible sunsets and sitting around the campfire in the evening and watching the stars.

This place is off the beaten track! Access to Discovery Camp is challenging and a bumpy ride in places - however it is totally worth it!
