Our room was lovely. So comfortable and welcoming. Loved the outdoor feel to the bathroom. All so clean. Simple yet satisfying The staff are exceptional. Anticipated our every need without fussing. Really helpful and always smiling and busy. The food was excellent and tailored to our tastes. We love hot & spicy!! The pool was delightful and a welcome wake up in the morning and cool down in the afternoon. The water was super clean. The quiet beach is in easy walking distance and is super. It’s clean and welcoming had it all to ourselves. The local fishermen were going quietly about their day. A lone king coconut seller was very kind and chatty. such a relaxing place to be. The host although at the villa was so helpful before we arrived and the high standard of care was taken over by staff as soon as we arrived. We are already looking forward to returning soon with friends. They will love all that we did plus the lagoon turtles that swim up for a nightly visit. We were able to enjoy nature at its calmest. Great location on a wonderful beach with few people. Really enjoyed the amazing waves and weather. Nice pool just off the beach. Staff helpful but could be more proactive

No one cleaned my room in 3 days…or even asked. Internet is a bit poor (sorry but I needed to work at times!)

Great location with a beautiful large, quiet beach away from the hustle and bustle. Very nice and helpful staff. Clean rooms.

No fridge in the room, bathroom fittings need repair or proper assembly.

The breakfast was amazing! We loved the Sri Lankan breakfasts and the careful attention the staff took to our requests. I wanted to try string hoppers since I had not had them in the first few days of visiting Sri Lanka, and the cook made sure to prepare them specially for me on our last day, when we needed to leave at 7am so breakfast was very early! The location of the hotel is also perfect- the beach is beautiful and calm with smooth sand. The locations is also family friendly, which means it is quiet at night. Not just at this hotel but the whole beach. By 10pm everything was closed/lights off. Luckily they provide routers so we could use the internet too!

When we arrived there was a little confusion because while we were given a welcome drink, there was no one to check us in or tell us any of the hotel policies or "quirks" like there is no menu, just set food each day for breakfast and other meals. We made some sporadic payments for items as we went and it may be helpful to have more organized check in/out and payment process. We had just arrived in Sri Lanka so we did not know how to get around but we figured it out ourselves by calling ubers. The hotel called a tuktuk for us to run to an ATM one day, but we did not know to negotiate the tuktuk ourselves and ended up paying much more than we should have. Just some additional information would help for first time tourists to Sri Lanka like us. There were also not enough chairs for the pool/beach for all the guests so we were playing musical chairs with other guests a bit trying to get a seat for parts of the day.

The hotel has a lot of potential but sadly fails to meet it. It’s worn out and haven’t been properly maintained. Our standard rooms had no windows, several things (tables, locks, doors etc) did not work, the linens were stained, and when it rained heavily one night, water came in through the floor and seeped through my bag. The staff seemed somewhat indifferent that we were there and did not make much of an effort to communicate or engage. The stay was overall ok, but the price is absolutely disproportional to the experience that you get. This was our most expensive stay while in Sri Lanka, and unfortunately, the most disappointing one as well.

Location amazing right on the beach. Breakfast options available were good, but language issues requesting exactly what you want.. The whole place is Rustic and genuine this is not an American Hotel, the air cond went wrong they fixed it. Several Power outages, it comes back on. Just chill on the beach come back and it will be sorted. The amount of natural wildlife is amazing, the area and beach is unspoilt no litter or plastic which is impressive. We saw turtles laying eggs two evenings on the beach, priceless. The local fisherman are friendly and hard at work everyday, pulling boats and nets in and out with their days catch. Lots of different places to eat along the beach, from huts to hotels didn't have a bad meal the whole stay of 18 days.. Drinking water clean.

Esperanza only really seems to function as Bed & Breakfast they will cook lunch and evening but no one else is ever there. The food is ok but most of the food on the menu is not available. However the cook will make simple food that is very nice specially for you on request. Shame they do not use the Pizza oven., Really missing a trick here. The boards at the Beach gate are blank curiously and yet they light the area up the brightest on the beach in the evening. Consequently no one comes in off the beach. If they had pizzas on the board, once a week Pizza Night they would have a regular busy night.

Esperanza Beach Villa exceeded all my expectations! The location is simply breathtaking pristine, quiet, and perfect for swimming. The villa itself is beautifully maintained, offering a blend of luxury and comfort with stunning ocean views. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring a truly relaxing stay. Waking up to the sound of waves and enjoying peaceful sunsets made this an unforgettable experience. If you’re looking for a serene beach escape, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!
