Good for 1 night stopover from or to the airport. Shuttle service included in the price (the pickup or dropoff times have to be arranged in advance). Also good for having a meal in the restaurant. Wouldn't recommend it for a longer holiday though. Too far from the beach and swimming pool is suitable just for kids. Staff was nice. On the negative side - WiFi was not available. So in case sb is travelling for business, they should have a backup solution.

The food was excellent. I enjoyed every bit of it.

Though I enjoyed the food, but some were a bit pricy.

"All good except one thing.."

7.0

A driver from the hotel kindly picked me up from the airport free of charge and even though my late night flight was delayed and didn't land until 0130 hours! The staff were pleasant and the compact room was sufficient for a quick stopover. It was clean, beset by short power cuts and the water didn't work for a while but I wouldn't hold the hotel responsible for all that. This hotel was perfect if you want accommodation very near to the airport and the ambience and decor of the hotel was pleasant.

I didn't like the confusing situation where a second person joined me and the driver as we left the airport building in order to walk to the car. This person was asking questions that panhandlers tend to do and extolled the virtues of the driver as the best in Gambia or similar. He was a panhandling bullshitter and assertively requested a tip when we reached the car thirty seconds after joining us - and the driver seemed to have been passive / tolerant of the situation. He was even putting his hands through the open window whilst requesting a tip!

"Will not come again"

3.0

Location close to airport. Reception staff was friendly and helpful.

This is the second and last time staying at the Woodpecker Hotel. It was chosen due to it's location close to the airport where we work that week, combined with construction work on the main road to the city but with the main road having been improved, I will choose one of the many much better hotels closer to city time next time. The hotel is still not nearly finished and construction has been on a standstill for years. We were told they have two restaurants but it was with the exact same menu in both and a lot of the items on the menu was not available. The restaurant staff were reluctant to serve. When I e.g. asked for an Irish coffee, they answered "we don't have that" as they did with most of the things we asked for, but there was a bottle of whiskey on the shelve and obviously coffee. I pointed that out and staff just stared at me blankly. There were no eggs for breakfast. I tried ordering ice cream and they asked me which kind. When I told them, they replied "we only have vanilla". Rooms are not very clean and not very nice. Wifi is not very stable and in my colleagues room there was none at all (same was the case for me last time I was there, so I wrote in advance and asked them to ensure a decent wifi connection). Best advise is to go somewhere else.
