Ostia Beach CryptoHouse

Very clean, spacious, everything was there in the kitchen - olive oil, salt, even some spices... Very friendly and available hosts. Nice and safe location.

Big apartment. Very clean. Provides everything you need to live there. Hot water all the time. Very hostile owner. The apartment was ready for check in earlier.

The half bed was not enough comfortable. Very thin mattres.

Host went out of his way to help us when we were very late. Drove us to station the next day-above and beyond what he needed to do.

Area a bit confronting at first, but people were friendly and helpful, even in the middle of the night!

Ostia has two attractions, the beach and Ostia Antico, the absolutely stunning Roman archeological site at the mouth of the River Tiber. The apartment has easy access to both of them, the site using the train from Ostia Nord and the beach is within walking distance. It was a little early in the season for the beach so we were there for the latter. If you are interested in the layout and intricacies of a prosperous highly commercial Roman city was like then this is the place to visit. Carlo gave us full directions, including bus timetables from FCO, to the apartment. We were met by his son Flavio who handed over the keys and gave us information regarding getting the train and surrounding facilities. The ground floor apartment has been fully renovated in a minimalist manner and has all new facilities including a new bathroom with copious hot water etc. The kitchen is also new as the crockery, pans etc (no cracked mismatched stuff from a junk shop which can be the case. The apartment is quiet and has ample ventilation and light from a large open area to the rear. The surrounding area has all the forms of shops, bars, supermarkets etc as you would expect in what is essentially a dormitory suburb for FCO airport and Rome. Carlo answered all our questions immediately by text. I can only recommend this place.
