"The seclusion, serenity and the views, hard to leave."

9.0

How could you not love this place............. the seclusion, serenity, sunsets, and sea views! Just magic watching the sea from our bed early morning. The bach appears newly built, furnishings are modern, nice linen for bed/ bathroom/ kitchen, rugs for cooler nights on the deck, great shower, and the kitchen is well equipped. Ideal for us for a long weekend getaway. Only the two of us, but there are two lovely bedrooms if needed. The couch is good for a snooze as are the two beanbags we used out on the deck. The outdoor furniture is magnificent, some serious slabs of timber. A wonderful place for gin o'clock and nibbles! The property is solar powered; we didn't notice anything different......plentiful supply for us for lights, hot water, big TV, electric blinds throughout bach, fridge/freezer, washing machine etc. (We also noticed a generator on site, though not needed during our visit as far we we know). Loved the sounds from the bush across the valley, and the visits we had from animals and birds...... pheasants, sheep, magpies, rabbits, turkeys, and hares....... It was fun watching the sheep looking in our bedroom window, and the goats moving around on the nearby steep hilly paddocks. Yep we are townies. Lots to do in the area, and we enjoyed swimming, the beautiful road trip out to Rocketlab site, walks, and food from foodtrucks on foreshore. Could have easily stayed longer to see more. The general store in Mahia is well provisioned, and the Sunset Point pub was popular with both indoor and outdoor dining areas. Enjoyed our real fruit ice creams from the camping ground store.

Booking.com didn't notify us of property access instructions. None of the usual emails, no notification on app either. We had the owners phone number from the booking confirmation email, so we rang them and the issue was sorted quickly and easily. Not a problem for us during our November visit, but we can imagine in summer it could be too hot to be out on the deck. The property gets 24hr sun. Suggest you take a sun umbrella.
